Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad for the $$ This does exactly what it says, well in the catalog. On this website it says up to 18 gauge steel, in the catalog it says up to 20ga. I tried 20ga and it worked fine, 18 gauge made the handles start to bend no matter how you held them or how easily you pulled. I figured the person with the broken handles had put something way to thick in. I can tell now that if I had tried to complete a 90 degree bend on 18 gauge steel, my handles would have snapped too. The picture shows the brake and the metal being along with 2 clamps, which you will need to buy to hold the metal down before bending. I'd have paid $10 more just to save a trip back to town to buy 2 C clamps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn"t bend 20 gauge steel I purchased this item along with the sheet metal kit. The bender would not bend the 20 gauge steel in the sheet metal kit. The length I was trying to bend was only 11 inches not the full 18 inches which the description states it can bend. The bender would bow greatly as I tried to bend the metal. The handles would bend and I was worried that the welds would fail. Don't waste your time and money on this item. I gave the price and value 1 star because it didn't work due to poor quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very compact and affordable bender. I also purchased a similar bender ,but instead of using clamps I drilled 2 holes on each end, close to the edge, inserted 2 bolts with 4 washers and 2 wingnuts for easy removal .In between the steel halves I use a washer to make up the sheetmetal thickness. If I need to bend a thicker metal, I remove the bolts, add washers and tighten up the bolts.Insert metal many times without clamping your metal each time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value-priced metal bender Overall, good value for the money. But, limited to use in bending light to medium gauge metals. Dual lever arms are a bit flimsy, flexing a bit too much in use, especially when trying to bend heavier metal (18 gauge). Built from aluminum. Durable, yet a bit too much flex to do complex bending jobs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK I bought this not knowing what to expect, now I know. This is afine tool if you are not expecting to do some major work. It is OK for small and thin guage metal, yet the handle broke off from bending with use.
