  • First Wave of Eastwood Products Arrive at Honest Charley

Recently we announced Eastwood's sponsorship of the 2013 Street Rodder Road Tour Build and we gave you a hint of what the crew at Honest Charley Garage had gotten themselves into with this build. We got an extensive list of tools and products they needed and we promptly sent off our first "care" package for the 51 Ford. The crew recently got the goods and sent us this picture of them after receiving it. We can't wait to see how they put it all to use and transform this rust bucket into a classy custom!

  • Eastwood Two Time Popular Mechanics Editors Choice Award at SEMA 2012

Winning a new product award at SEMA is pretty exciting and every company at the SEMA show is eager to receive any type of recognition for their new products. Here at Eastwood we work every day to try and get you new innovative products you can actually use.

This year at the 2012 SEMA show one of our items in the new product showcase was picked for an Editors Choice Award by Popular Mechanics Magazine once again. You may remember last year our Aerosol Injection won an award. This year our product designer Mark R accepted the 2012 award for our MIG Spot Weld Kit.

    Eastwood MIG Spot Weld Kit

Mark and our R&D crew developed this product just like many of our products; he found a problem while working on his own restoration project and designed an affordable solution. Now you can save money and space by keeping the MIG spot weld kit on your welding cart. Just thread it onto your MIG gun when you want to use it without having to drag out another tool.

We're honored to win the award two years in a row, and while many product designers would be feeling the pressure to go for a three-peat; we're just doing the same we've been doing for years.. bringing you affordable, innovative products to solve problems in the shop.

  • SEMA 2012- Eastwood Company Part 2 Coverage

Every year I'm still amazed at how many hidden "gems" there are in the show. You could walk rows and rows of products, models and through thousands of people, and suddenly you turn a corner and there is a beautiful car tucked in a booth. It's almost like a treasure hunt for us. We try to cover a lot of the show floor and find some of these hidden gems for YOU.

Day 2 we seemed to stumble upon a lot of these types of cars. In fact right under our nose I found a small booth that was really different then the others.. no flashy lights, half-naked models, or an eager sales crew trying to lure you in with freebies. Just a beautiful deep red retro hot rod. After finding the builders, we got to talking and this very car is a true show car from the '50's that was found in sad shape. They brought it back to its former glory and added some additional custom work to get it looking as good or better than it did in its glory-days. This car is featured in this months HOTROD Magazine and we'll be doing a video feature on the car with the builder. Stay tuned!

    Gene Winfield Ford Kustom

Even leaving the show walking outside, I found some amazing rides hiding in every corner and inch of the lot. This beautiful Kustom Ford is a Gene Winfield creation and he worked with his crew until hours before the show to get it ready and entered in the show. He had great things to say about Eastwood and we're honored to be doing an exclusive video feature on the Ford.

Here's some of the best rides we found during day 2 of SEMA 2012 show. We'll do our best to keep seeking out the best rides for you!

  • Eastwood 2012 Summer Classic and Street Rodder Amsoil Road Tour Coverage- Part 1

With our first Summer Classic show being such a success last year, we were extremely excited for the 2012 show and we knew the bar had been set high. We listened to all of the suggestions, and tried to make this year go as smooth as possible. This year we planned, planned some more, then planned again, until the week before the show came and we all buckled down and started making the plans become reality. Despite some early morning rain scares, the weather turned out perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day!

For the show this year we decided to keep our "non-competitive, laid back" vibe. Instead of trophies we picked out a small selection of our favorite cars or "Eastwood Picks" and parked them center stage with the Street Rodder Road Tour cars in front of the Eastwood retail outlet. It was tough to pick a small group of our favorites, but the spread was quite broad with the lineup including hot rods, customs, muscle cars, race cars, a super car, and even a neat little Triumph TR6 with a BMW M3 Engine in it!

The official times for the Summer Classic were 10AM-3PM, but by 10AM we already had well over 100 cars as enthusiasts poured into the lot. We didn't want any of our fans, customers, or followers from out of town to miss the show, so we hosted a live stream as the cars packed into the front of Eastwood headquarters. As the show field continued to fill up we heard the familiar rumble of a Ford Racing Coyote V8 as Jerry Dixey in the Street Rodder '40 Ford rolled into the show with his fellow "roadtourians" following behind. We got a quick preview of the car the night before the show, but we still couldn't get over how nice the '40 Ford had turned out. The chop by Hollywood Hot Rods with Eastwood Tools was "just right", the paint and interior was perfect, and that engine bay was almost as stunning as the exterior!

Throughout the day we had technical demos on welding, plasma cutting, powder coating, painting, and plastic repair with our new Eastwood Hot Stapler. As the show winded down we announced our giveaways with prizes from our suppliers and some of your favorite Eastwood products. We ended the day by giving away an Eastwood TIG 200 to one lucky winner.

Thanks to everyone that brought their ride, attended, watched the live feed, followed on Facebook, and volunteered during the show, we can't wait for next year! We're still sorting through thousands of videos and countless hours of video footage, so stay tuned for more coverage of the show here on the blog, but for now here is some of our favorites thus far.

  • 2012 Street Rodder 40 Ford Road Tour Car Debuted

The last time we checked in on the Street Rodder 40 Ford build, the crew at Hollywood Hot Rods was putting the final touches on the car and tuning the engine.

Recently Street Rodder debuted the car at the Hollywood Hot Rods headquarters in Burbank, CA. They kept the guests baited by keeping the car covered up until after Troy Ladd and the SR crew said a few words. We were lucky enough to get a few behind-the-scenes shots of the event.

All in all the car came out great and the roof chop that Troy and his crew performed with the help of Eastwood Metal Fabrication Tools looked spot-on. The metallic paint was flawless and the Ford Racing V8 sounded fantastic through those individual throttle bodies!

Jerry Dixey is a lucky man and by now is already cruising the west coast in the Ford on the first legs of the 2012 Street Rodder Road Tour. Make sure you watch this space for full coverage as Eastwood and Street Rodder kick off the East Coast leg of the Road Tour at the annual Eastwood Summer Classic on July 14th! If you're local make sure you cruise out and see some of the best classic cars in the Mid-Atlantic and catch some great deals on Eastwood products!
