Product Overview:

Description

Stop Welding Heat Damage - This is the kind of product that you have to try to believe how well it works! We held onto a small metal panel while a torch heated the metal almost white hot. The part in my fingers never went above about 85 degreesF! That's the kind of protection Cold Shield provides. Imagine how well Cold Shield will work for you the next time you need to weld close to plastic trim, wiring, or when you want to minimize panel warpage and paint damage. Once the job is done just wipe it off with a water dampened clothe. Cold Shield is non-toxic and bio-degradable. 32 oz. jar. Made in USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff is awesome I applied cold shield around where I was leading and it kept the heat where I needed it. I was leading about a 12" diameter circle and after I was all done soldering you could put your had on the other side of the panel and it felt just a hair warmer then room temp

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cold Shield I found it better to have the Cold Shield back over an inch away from the weld. Closer It was to easy to get a cold brittle weld. Other than that it works as advertised. Where a 1/4 stick weld was easily held by hand when the cold weld was one inch away from the weld and two thick before bare hand held metal.

Questions & Answers

I bought some last year and it worked great, but since then its been stored in my garage and when I opened the container the other day, it has turned to liquid. Was i supposed to be storing it indoors in room temp? is there a way to turn it back to a gel?

Asked by: Scott
We do not recommend storing in below-freezing temperatures failure to do so can alter the composition of the material.

I have an aluminum plate with insulation plates on it, but I have a bolt going thru the insualtion plate. I would like to reduce the heat loss thru the bolt. Could I use this compond on the threads to reduce heat transfer from the plate to the bolt?

Asked by: KToth
This product was intended for keeping heat in one area when welding. We have not tested it for this process. However it sounds like it should work.
