Eastwood 100-lb. Pressure Abrasive Blaster is rated 3.9565 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well for the price This is the ubiquitous Chinese blaster, but painted blue with an Eastwood decal. Works well for the price, but all the hardware is very low quality. Expect to replace nozzles often. The media control valve tends to be the clog point. Keep your media dry and pay attention to the 80 grit limit. Make sure the length of hose between the compressor and blaster is 25' to allow water vapor to condense so the water trap can filter it. The hood that comes with this is unusable as the shape prevents the lense from staying in field of vision. You will need to buy another hood that works. Pick up some blasting gloves while you're at it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from With a few minor mods, this unit performs In an effort to improve the performance of this blaster, i did a couple modifications. I use two air compressors connected in parallel to get the cfm and a four stage dryer on the air line so I can blast through an entire hopper without stopping. I picked up an electric massager and strapped it to the unit. The vibrations keeps the media moving and prevents clogging and vortex. I replaced the blasting hose with one that has a metal ground wire running through the jacket; this stops the static shock when blasting. I picked up an arc blast hood and use that for media blasting, great fit, full face viewing, durable. With these few mods, the system runs flawlessly all day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst hunk of junk I’ve seen, total rip off! Where to start, This sandblaster was a gift from my wife on my advice that the Eastwood name meant quality. It is one of the worst hunk of junk tools I’ve seen in a LONG time, with nothing more than a pretty label. Its hard to regulate the media, the soft rubber stopper on the dead mans valves wares out instantly causing you not to be able to cut off the air an media. The mixer/manifold where the air an media mix, is made from cheap pot metal and has already been wore out by media an is non replaceable (see pic). I have not made it through an entire car yet, only a couple quarter panels an the upper cowl. What I am working on is a small Model T coupe, not a large project by any means. Do not waste your money on this tool, your better served to by a cheap one an modify it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use! Arrived from Eastwood on Friday and I wasn't expecting it until the following Monday. The free shipping was an added bonus. It came partially assembled and I was able to do the final assembly, using the enclosed instructions, in a short period of time. I am restoring an old Coca Cola box that has some rust and other paint issues. The unit ran great for about thirty minutes and then the media and air stopped flowing. I followed the troubleshooting guide in the instruction booklet and was able to resolve my issue......no fault of the equipment. I continued using the blaster with no further issues. At this point, I am very pleased with the overall quality and performance of my purchase. Thanks Eastwood!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed with performance I bought this blaster for use in stripping my 1958 Apache but I am very disappointed with its performance. The 80 grit glass beads will not feed through the blaster. I get about 10 seconds of blasting before I have to stop and shake it. I thought it might be the media but when I used it in my cheapy gravity-fed blasting cabinet, it fed just fine and after a lot of blasting still feeds just fine. I haven't tried it with other media but it sure fails my need to use the 89 grit beads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It did the job I have a Quincy 5HP/60 Gal air compressor, it had no troubles keeping up with this blaster. Took a little tweaking to get the blaster to work, but once I figured it out, it worked pretty darn good. The quality is the same as the harbor freight units, they look identical except this one is painted blue, got this one on sale at Eastwood, so the price was only 10 bucks more. I would purchase it again from Eastwood, I ordered it and it was here the very next day with free shipping. Overall I would recommend this unit to my friends it worked very nicely. It took about 90 minutes to blast the whole front of my mustang, did the frame, firewall, cowl inner and outer, engine bay, 90 minutes and it was done and it stripped all the rust off for me and made a nice paintable surface. Hope this review helps others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works like a champ purchased this sand blaster because of the great reviews ran it for 8hrs the first day before the tip worn out replaced it with the next size in the bag then out of the blue the hose busted open down at the bottom cut a couple inches off and it worked like new again. i was able to blast my car in one day. water tap keeps sand dry, had one clog and that was my fault for not sifting the sand bought a small window screen from my local hardware store that worked great. i would highly reccomend this product to friends or any hobbyist

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not pleased with performance I bought this unit with the expectation that, as a novice to car restoration, I would be able to speed my work by blasting away paint in little or no time. Not the case. My unit will spray material for about 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds the pressure drops considerably and no material comes out of the tip. It takes a minute or two for the pressure to return to a level that will allow me to strip for another 15 seconds. I spend more time waiting than I do removing paint. This is a great disappointment to me. I had expected much more than what I actually got.

I would be using this for wood profiling on eight foot max pieces. Is this unit an over kill for this?

Asked by: sculpted77
This unit would be ideal for any kind of blasting you need to do. The size of the tank is only relative to how long you can blast without refilling the media.

Will this system work with sand?

Asked by: Easyrider
No, play sand is too abrasive for the unit. 60 Grit or finer is recommended.

is this unit able to blast granite, stone and similar material for lettering for fundraising projects

Asked by: pip861
The variables will be your air compressor's output, nozzle size, and type of blast media used. You can change these things in order to use our blasters effectively on nearly any substrate.

I need to remove old paint from my outdoor soffits and porch area.  All surfaces are wood.  I have a compressor rated at 4.0 CFM and 125PSI.  What abrasive medium and which EASTWOOD device would you recommend?

Asked by: strobelight
Unfortunately, your compressor is a bit too small to effectively run a media blaster. You need a minimum of 7cfm @ 80 psi for the Blast Out of a Bucket System, but for the job you are tackling, a 50lb blaster with a soda retrofit kit would be recommended (this needs at least 10cfm). If you do use soda media, be aware that although the soda media is gentle, it can still profile wood. I would strip the paint with a chemical stripper. Eastwood recently added DeKote, which is a safer stripper. http://www.eastwood.com/dekote-paint-and-powder-stripper.html
