Questions & Answers

My 64 Impala needs a respray. The current paint is solid, no cracks, peeling etc. The current paint is 34 years old and dull with a few minor scratches. What steps should I take on the current paint to prepare it for the respray with this product?

Asked by: Impalalans
I would thoroughly scuff the surface with a Scotch Guard, (RED PAD) Pre-paint prep. Epoxy Primer, let cure 3-4 days, Scuff (as above , and prep) Spray single stage.

I was hoping to confirm this paint is the same color as GM(Fisher) WA2661 or PPG8259. GM had many names of white for this, two of which were Ermine and Cameo. Other names were Shelltone Ivory and Arctic white/Provincial white.

Asked by: 67Scoty
Cannot confirm an exact match as batch number are different and sligh mis-color is possible.

Can this be mixed with clear or directly cleared without sanding? If so which of your clear urethanes is compatible for doing this technique?

Asked by: Joe W
The white single stage has Clear in it. If you want to spray with more clear, scuff surface with a Scotch pad, clean any spray the clear. Show Clear, is the best.

Can this be wet sanded before clear coat is installed

Asked by: Millermik
Yes, you can et sand this before applying a clear coat. Be sure to finish with 600-800 grit to ensure the clear can bond properly.
