Questions & Answers

I paint bathtubs in white, it strikes me that at the end it looks like a car, I applied it and I had small particles like grains, what should I do? should I not mix with the paint?

Asked by: Victor
Metallic flakes settle to the surface leaving behind a texture. This is why after applying a metallic finsih or addingmetallic flake into your paint or a clear; it is recommended to apply a few coats of straight clear (no flakes added) to smooth out the surface.

Can you please send my a few photographs of the Winner White 00.04 flake. As Im shooting my 1999 Cadillac Deville Jammed and Exterior. Inside and Out. Should a Gallon cover all ? Or should I go with 2 Gallons and 100 gram's of flake. Thank you

Asked by: Tommy
Unfortunately we currently do not have any photos other than what is posted online to send. Typically 1 50gram container is mixed into every gallon, but this is a matter of your own personal preference.

Would a 1.8 tip work for spraying the metal flake or would 2.0 work?

Asked by: hank
As these are very fine flakes you would be able to spray them through smaller nozzles such as a 1.4. You will not need a huge nozzle.

What do you mix the pearl with to spray it? An intercoat clear??

Asked by: Rgn1133
The pearl can either be added to our Intercoat clear or any clear for that matter. Just remember to finish the paint job off with 2-3 coats of pure clear with no pearls to ensure you protect your paint job.

Can you add to base coat of pure white single stage urethane , and would you still get some sparkle effect? Also if added to one gallon would it clump up and or stay at bottom?

Asked by: hank4jc
The flakes are best added to a clear. When added to a base the flakes tend to get buried in the pigment when you spray. These are best added to a gallon and just require stirring.

What would be the effect of using this with the European clear over Alpine white base? Would alternating between pure clear, and this produce a deeper look?

Asked by: ddiehlmann
Applying a white flake over a white base will look bright white with a "sparkle" across the surface. With a white flake, or most any flakes for that matter, layering it will not give you any kind of deeper effect. Simply spray your white base, then use clear or our new Intercoat Clear to spray your flake,l and then bury it in pure clear coat and then wet sand it smooth.
