Eastwood 2K AeroSpray Aerosol Epoxy Primer Gray is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Well I really put this stuff to the test. Sprayed my entire engine bay and it worked great. It has a nice build as well so I I was able to cover small imperfections in the filler. It wet sands nicely (400 wet) and the 2K is no joke. I was Skeptical so I tried to wipe it off with Lacquer thinner and it dosen't wipe off. If you are getting large droplets and bad texture then you are too far back. Nozzle sprays like a paint gun so You need to spray it like a paint gun. Uuniform strokes, overlapping, stop spraying at the end of the panel start spraying on your way back, etc... When you get to last 1/4 of can becareful because it will start to sputter then. This wont be a concern if you are sanding it before paint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for some things, and not others This paint does spray out well and has a great vertical spread nozzle. It's really only good for parts, I think, because you can really only use it with the can held straight up and down. You can't paint a hood, for example. I used the epoxy primer and even on vertical surfaces, it left a line pattern unless a lot of paint was put down. A can doesn't cover much area and if you want to avoid a line pattern you need to put a lot down. By my calculation, if you wanted to prime a mid-size car, it would take about 25 cans to get sufficient coverage. You really can't go by the square footage that the can says it can cover.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works OK Happy that an epoxy primer is available in a can. The reviews I have read before purchasing are more obvious after actually using the product. I used it on the trunk of my car and glad to have it done with epoxy primer. But... because having to hold the can horizontal I only got good spray for about half of the can. So I had two cans thinking that was more than I needed but turns out that I could use at least one more can. I'm debating on what to do now by either leave it as it is or scuff it and add another coat. I also agree with others that the price is very high for the quantity.

Can I use this on calipers?

Asked by: Dragonwolf911
Since this is a standard primer it is not designed to handle the temperatures seen on braking systems.

After it cures/dries, how long do I need to wait before I spray the under hood product and do I need to scuff the 2K primed surface before spraying the under hood paint?

Asked by: Mymach
After 20-30 minutes of the epoxy drying you can go straight into your underhood black without scuffing.

Hi, I'm using this as a primer for rocker panel replacement skins. What type of paint can I use to cover this. My truck is white. I just need a top coat. Can I use enamel auto paint over the epoxy primer. Someone said I shouldn't use acrylic lacquer.

Asked by: den51
this is not an answer, but does your answer mean that I can acrylic lacquer over the epoxy filler? Thanks

Can this be applied over one week old Rustoleum Automotive "FILLER primer" that has been block sanded to 400.

Asked by: Jakedesign
As the Rustoleum is non catalzyed we would not be able to guarantee compatibility. If you were to try this you would want the first two coats to be light to minimize any chance of reaction.

i plan on using this over my original paint that has clear coat fading in a certain area. what grit sand paper should i use to scuff up the original base coat before applying the epoxy primer?

Asked by: Newbie Painter
You can prep the existing paint with 400 grit prior to applying this and then your paint.

Would sanding be required on polished aluminum? If so what grit would be needed? Thanks!

Asked by: Fx265
POR15 states that you could use the POR brand 2K paint directly on the POR15 paint while the POR15 is still tack and then there is no other prep to be done. This might be the same for Eastwood 2k paints.

Can I apply this 2k primer over cured POR-15?

Asked by: SMan
You would have to scuff the Por 15 first to ensure a mechanical bond. With that said we have not tested out products over the Por 15 for compatibility.
