Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I have a gas cap for a 1962 corvette that needed to get replated. It is plated with Zinc. I called places that did Zinc plating and they wanted alot of cash to do just a gas cap, plus they would ruin my gasket.I heard about Eastwoods Clear Zinc. I bought it and painted my cap. It looks great. Other corvette owners saw the cap and could not tell the difference. I would definatly suggest this product to anyone who needs a Zinc finish. I'm very happy with the results. Thanks Eastwood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even close to Zinc color After reading all the positive comments here I bought a can of clear zinc thinking it was going to resemble or come close to zinc. Well It does not even come close BAD BAD BAD!! Looks like regular alum. paint. You can view the sample pic I took and the left bolt is the east wood zinc and on the right is the duplicolor high heat alum at 6 bucks a can they almost match. Save your cash for something better. BTW if there was a 0 star rating I would have used it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from dissapointed I was a little optimistic about what kind of finish i was going to get, and after i was finished painting the gas cap for my Nova, i was pretty dissapointed. The finish comes out mostly gray but there is a slight hue to it. Not anything like actual zinc though. It should almost be a 2 color operation, something like what they do with their CAD paint. I wouldnt recommend though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointed Was only clear lacquer with grey color. It washed off with lacquer thinner. I don't now how thezinc would protect metal encapsulated within lacquer film. I wanted to "zinc phosphate" the steel before powder coating. "Zinc coating" by putting some zinc metal in a clear spray may benefit some, not me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice coverage used it on my Saab rim, sanded the scratches used the Eastwood spray pre paint cleaner, put on a coat of primer then I only needed a light coat followed by a heavier coat, no runs covered beautifully. topped it off with 3 coats of Diamond gloss clear coat, looks like a new rim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative for expensive zinc plating I own a motorcycle shop in Northern California that does a lot of restoration work. We use Clear Zinc on some of the small parts that need the look and protection of zinc plating, but we seldom have enough for the minimum amout required by the plater. Clear Zinc works great!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Brake Shields restoration looks like silver paint with a blue tint, way less expensive than new parts but does not look like the new brake shields that are on the rear of my restoration

About Clear Zinc Aerosol 12 oz

Duplicate Plating with the Ease of an Aerosol Application - Clear Zinc duplicates the exact appearance of Clear Zinc plating. This blue/gray OEM plating was used on a variety of components such as: disc brake dust shields, coil brackets, pulleys, alternator fans, vacuum advance canisters, relays, hose clamps and misc. brackets. Eastwood has duplicated the exact hue in a durable, easily applied aerosol enamel formulation. Resists temperatures up to 300 degrees F. 12 oz net wt. aerosol covers up to 6 sq. ft. 11-15% gloss. PRE Painting Prep (10041Z) removes residual grease and oil for good adhesion.

One 12 oz. net wt. aerosol can enough to coat about 6 sq. ft.

PRE Painting Prep Aer. (10041Z) washes away oily surface contaminents.

Use Clear Zinc on clean metal surfaces to create the blue/silver look of this plating process. Works best when can and room temperature are 70-90 degrees F with 50% or less humidity.
