Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't trust it I along with at least one other customer had problems with the filler not setting up properly. I followed the hardener to filler ratio and 4 hours later it was still a semi hard, sticky, non-sandable mess. I tried to contact Eastwood several times, for over a week, yet never received an answer. If you double the hardener to filler ratio it works, however there is no way of knowing if that will compromise the integrity of the filler. I would NOT recommend this product until issues have been resolved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to harden fine under the right conditions I decided to purchase this despite the negative reviews as I just replaced the quarter panel on my 1967 Mustang and needed something to fill the lead seam that joins it to the roof panel. I was hesitant to use lead due to its price, health hazards, and skill required to use it, but I'd also heard horror stories of people that tried to fill this seam with fiberglass only to have it shatter a few years down the road after paint. So in the end, I decided to compromise and go with this product instead. All of the reviews stated that it hardens poorly, so after I mixed 10 drops of the hardener into an average-sized amount of filler (the instructions say to add 2% hardener, but how does anyone calculate that??) and applied it to the car, I closed up my garage and let it dry. For three days. In low-humidity conditions. In the Alabama heat. I came back and it'd hardened up just fine. Does it harden in 15 minutes like the can says? No. But it doesn't kick in 30 to 45 seconds after you mix it either, leaving you with plenty of time to get the shape you want. I think that if you have a little time and some patience, it will still work as advertised.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works...However... Followed hardener to filler ratio and 12 hours later had to scrape a semi solid mess off my project. Tried again doubling the hardener ratio and filler set after a couple of hours. Once set filler performed as expected, sanded well and edges feathered smoothly. Now I have a half can of filler and no hardener

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So far so good A bit difficult to figure compound to hardener ratio and does seem to take a while to set, no doubt a downer for the pros and those who need to get things done fast. Can't give "full experience" as yet but what I have applied seems to look ok and sands well

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Long Set Time Thoroughly mixed proper amounts as directed and applied to pre prepped clean sheet metal. 6 hours later and still tacky to touch. Now waiting overnight and will check in morning. Looks like good product by may require greater amount of hardener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works as stated. it does require patience. I have used this product on and off over a couple years. It works great. It has been used in areas that I know has some chance of flexing.. I am restoring a 60 Triumph TR 3 and the inner fender wells on the front and back will flex. I used it over welds where new sheet metal was welded in. No issues. It took me a few tries to get the amount of hardener just right. It does take a few hours to set up. Even then it has a tacky feeling. I found that if I take a small knife blade and gently scrape the surface, it will remove the portion of the resin that comes to the surface. Then I took some used 60 grit sand paper to to scuff off the surface before taking a new piece of 60 grit sand paper to It. I am very happy with the product. It does stay flexible and moves with the metal so you do not get stress cracks. Do not expect to sand it down until several hours has gone by. BE SURE to stir up the contents of the can to mix it thoroughly, as the liquid will separate from the solid paste material after sitting, even for amshort period of time.. I personally would recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This filler has two major problems We used this filler yesterday as part of a TR3 fender repair. Two problems that we observed are that first there is no simple way to estimate the 2% of required hardener. Is that 2% by volume or 2% by weight and in any case, how would you estimate that with a wooden spatula and a mixing board ?. Second the hardener has the density of water and it is clear, so there is no visual indication that you have mixed the filler appropriately. Our first attempt at using it was a disaster, we scraped it all off after 24 hours as it had still not cured. Today we did a controlled test and found we needed to add twice as much hardener as we had expected to get the filler to set up after 30 mins. With a tablespoon of filler, three drops was not enough, 6 drops or more were required. Now we need to scale that up to use up the rest of this quart can. There are similar, better products on the market like UPOL D.

What color does it dry to?  I need it to set up white.

on aluminum what to use for eatching before filling

Just make sure to rough up the surface with at least 80 grit paper or apply it over grinder marks, etc.

About EW Contour Alum Repair Compound 25.3 oz

A uniquely formulated filler fortified with aluminum for strength, corrosion resistance and durability. Use to repair factory leaded seams and high strength applications as well as areas prone to moisture. Its corrosion resistant properties prevent rust from coming through the repair. Applies direct Includes Liquid Hardener.

Thoroughly mix desired amount of material with liquid hardener. Using a clean spreader, fill to desired level. Do not exceed 1/4" depth. Allow to cure for at least 15 minutes before sanding. Abrade with 40-80 grit and follow up with 120 grit to achieve desired contour. Final finish with finer abrasives. If necessary, apply Eastwood’s 13521ZP Contour™ Glazing Putty for final finishing. Topcoat with quality primer, such as Eastwood’s Epoxy or Urethane Primers.

CAUTION: Do NOT return catalyzed material back into can. To avoid contamination, seal lid tightly after each use. Store in a cool dry place.


Always wear eye, skin and resporatory protection when using this product. Always apply in a well ventilated area. Consult MSDS and product label for specific safety warnings.
