Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly effective, quality product I was referred top this brand by a colleague, so this was my first time using this brand. After a thorough study of the product, I purchased the Flux-N-Solder to simplify the process of soldering small objects that require a strong bond. I am a gunsmith which requires my work be solid for safety reasons as well as practicality and aesthetics. A customer asked to have an M16 extractor installed on his Rem 700 bolt. In doing so, the old extractor must be removed, the bolt face must be recessed and a filler ring installed (soldered) into place. What is critical about this product and this particular job is that when a trigger is pulled on a rifle, the firing pin hits the primer of the cartridge at the very location where the soldering has taken place. This causes a very small explosion of the primer which sets off the propellant (gunpowder) and creates an immense amount of pressure (40-65K PSI). So a strong bond must be retained shot after shot.... no if's, ands, or buts about it. Eastwood Flux-N-Solder is holding up nicely. THAT puts this product to the test and says a lot about its performance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from flux n solder Used it for the first time without any problems. Was really easy to apply, just had to stir a little to get the heavy partilcles to the top. Just had to heat and wipe came out great.

I want to use lead-free solder over some areas that have rust holes. I've already treated the rust. Can this be used over rusted areas that have been treated with your Rust Converter or Rust Encapsulator? Or does it have to be clean bare metal?

Asked by: Merle Nalder
Most flux will need to be applied straight to metal. I would recommend getting some cylindrical wire brushes and knocking down the rusted area best you can.
