Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not buy again Sprayed this on alumumn wheels I had stripped the clear off and spent hours polishing. The clear left the wheel some what dull. The next day the wheel looked worse. Removed finish and left wheel raw. The bad thing is I bought two cans and only did one wheel

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Metal Protect 14 After stripping and polishing the aluminum fork legs, speedo cover and hand controls on a motorcycle I am restoring, I used this for the final step. It looked pretty sharp after applying it. It does self-level and dry evenly as long as you don't apply to thick of a coat. I also found after it dries, you can polish any imperfections out with a soft dry cotton cloth. As far as how it holds-up, only time will tell. I believe it should be fine for my project, as I store the bike indoors. So far so good. Mike M.

Will this work to protect the gold cadmium coating on a new reproduction Delco power brake booster for a 1970 Chevy? Thanks!

Asked by: HeidiD
The Metal Protect will need to be reapplied every 3 months or so. A better option would be the Diamond Clear gloss for bare metal: http://www.eastwood.com/diamond-clear-gloss-set.html.

my front engine cover is cast aluminum, so I'm looking for a product to protect it from oxidation. is this a good choice?

Asked by: liam
This coating will not hold up to the temperatures of that area specifically. I would recommend using either our Exo- Armour: http://www.eastwood.com/exoarmour.html or the Sharkhide:http://www.eastwood.com/sharkhide-aluminum-protectant-quart.html.

For an aluminum radiator and aluminum wheels, are shark hide and your spray on protectant comparable or would one significantly outperform the other. I'm looking for a product that would last the longest. Live in South Florida and the vehicle is garaged.

Asked by: Shel
They are both comparable in terms of the protective coating as well as longevity

I live in Iowa, the new thing they spray on the roads in the winter is the liquid brine before a winter storm. Will this help on chrome rims, I bought a set of chrome rims on LaborDay weekend and by the middle of December they were starting to get pitts

Asked by: RonB
Metal Protect will help protect them from the spray applied to the roads.

Will this work to protect a metal item that has some rust and patina that we want to protect yet not destroy the slight rust and patina? We want to keep the slight rust and patina but not allow it to rust more when displayed outdoors.

Asked by: Cyrus
You would want to use our patina preserver or the rust encapsulator clear.
