Evercoat® Featherfill G2 Buff Gallon

Product Overview:

Description

Feather Fill G2 is a high solids polyester primer surfacer that is VOC compliant. It is specially designed to hold down body repair areas and provide an excellent foundation for any paint system. It has excellent adhesion to fiberglass, SMC, body filler and wood surfaces.

  • High Build Formula with minimal texture on surface
  • Excellent adhesion to fiberglass, SMC and wood
  • Fast Dry-to-Sand time reduces cycle time
  • Waterborne compatible and VOC compliant
  • MEKP Activator included

Many shops commonly apply self-etching primer to bare metal surfaces. But most polyester fillers and epoxy primers should not be applied directly over self-etching primers. So what do you apply when you need additional filling? Feather Fill G2 is the answer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filler This stuff works as described. Goes on smooth and sands well. Hot here in California so it sets really fast, too fast. Either need to wait for cooler weather or have air conditioning in the shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feather Fill G2 is good stuff I read several reviews and everyone said this stuff was pretty good. Some said it sands like concrete, but I didn't find that to be the case. I sprayed an old Jeep with excellent results. Only word to the wise, don't apply directly to bare metal and use a 1.8 to a 2.0 tip for the best results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on imperfect surfaces Spray with a larger nozzle, but can thin with acetone too. Great at self-leveling on those ever-so-slighty wavy surfaces, and once sanded, super smooth. The 50:1 ratio is tricky but the activator tube has markings. I even experimented with hand-brushing a little in an inconspicuous area, and it stuck, and sanded fine. Think of it like an aerosol Bondo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I purchased this product based on friend's recommendation and I agree with Jack(above). The product does take a while to dry enough so it does not clog the sandpaper. After several days, it was Ok. Good fill and easy to use. Just understand that it does not dry in hours.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I used this as a final coat before putting down color and I was really happy with it. It sprayed well with a 1.7 MM tip. Not sure if it was due to temp or not enough hardener but I had to let the panels sit overnight to be able to sand it without clogging the paper. If you want something that is going to give you laser sharp panels, this is it.

Questions & Answers

What does SMC stand for?

Asked by: Jeff
SMC stands for Sheet Molded Compound. It is what Corvette bodies are actually made of. It has a release agent built in to it to allow the panels to release from the molds, so SMC compatible primers and fillers must be used.

On my featherfill g2 I used one tube hardener to a qt of featherfill and it set up in cup and gun in less than 15 minutes why would that happen

Asked by: llwrace
Too much hardener or too much heat. When it begins to kick it hardens almost immediately if its too hot or too much hardener is used.

One of the answers (Kelly) in this thread says that Featherfill G2 can't be applied over self-etching primer. But then there is an answer from Scott stating that Featherfill G2 must be applied over a self-etching or epoxy primer. Which is correct?

Asked by: Brad
Sorry for the confusion, this product can certainly be applied over self etching primers. Just keep in mind it might extend the dry to sand time.
