About Gas Tank Sealer Kits - Eastwood Gas Tank Sealer

A clean supply of fuel is critical to the performance of your vehicle—hard starting, stumbling under load, and sluggish response may be symptoms that your car's fuel system is dirty. The best way to ensure that the gas or diesel fuel stays clean is to be certain that the fuel tank is free of rust, and this Fuel Tank Sealer Kit helps you keep it rust-free.
This Fuel Tank Sealer Kit also seals minor leaks in metal tanks up to 20 gallons in capacity, and that can save you a great deal of time and money by not having to locate a replacement tank.
You’ll need muriatic acid (available at your local hardware store) to clean the tank first; dilute it 20:1.
Do not use this kit in tanks containing nitro methane or aniline oils.
Car gas tank kit includes 1 pint of Rust Remover, a 7 oz. container of Metal Wash, 2 pints of sealer, and instructions.
Motorcycle gas tank kit includes 1 pint of Rust Remover, a 7 oz. container of Metal Wash, 1 pints of sealer, and instructions.
Extra pints of sealer are available individually (10087Z). Tank Tone Metallic Coating (10030Z) is formulated with zinc to prevent future tank rust. Muriatic acid (available at your local hardware store) cleans the tank.
Q. How does this kit work?

A. To seal your gas tank, simply clean the inside with Fast Etch, muriatic acid, and acetone. Then pour in the internal sealer and let cure. The sealer resists fuel additives and is compatible with both gas and diesel fuels. Your reconditioned tank will now resist rust and corrosion build-up, ensuring years of reliable service.
Additional sealer can be applied if the coating hasn't been exposed to fuel. Should the need arise to remove old sealer, pour in a gallon or more of acetone. It may take up to 2 days for the acetone to completely dissolve the old sealer.

Q. Does the tank material matter?

A. If you wish to use this kit on a fiberglass tank, test for compatibility by exposing an inconspicuous area to acetone to test for softening. If no excessive softening occurs, follow label instructions but omit muriatic acid and Eastwood Rust Remover steps. If you wish to use this kit for an aluminum tank, omit the muriatic acid step. Q. Any precautions?

A. Do not use this kit with tanks containing nitro methane or aniline oils.
Not for use in tanks containing nitro methane or aniline oils.
Work in a well-ventilated area. Leave at least one opening uncapped when not actually tumbling the tank.
You’ll need to buy muriatic acid from your local hardware store to clean the tank first; the acid will need to be diluted 20:1.
