Glyptal Red Brush On 1 qt is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only product of its kind and an excellent one I have used 1201 since the early 70's to coat the inside of racing engines. Like many others reviewing this product, it is easy to apply dries quickly and provides and excellent finish to seal cast surfaces and promotes oil drainage. It has insulating qualities as well. Impervious to oil and gas. Another user said Nitro doesn't affect it either. Clean up with acetone before curing is pretty easy as well as cleaning the paint brush. I am still using the same brush I used nearly 50 years ago on my current 383 chevy. Great product, it is a bargain at its price. A quart will treat scores of engine blocks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This an awesome product I am building a high performance Chevy smallblock for a restoration project and I've always wanted to paint the internals of a engine with Glyptal, Even though I've built a few engines over the years I never had access to this product (Thank You Eastwood) After using it I wish I had done so many years ago it goes on very easy dries quickly and cures into a great looking surface I wish I could show it off but I'll just have to be happy with photos

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glyptal Experience If you have ever opened a motor and seen the inside of the block treated with Glyptal you would understand how great it is. The surfaces are smooth and clean This is a product, like primers, that you rarely see after they are used. However if you like fine detail and clean motor internals you cannot beat it. I use it to finish the internal components of my Maytag motor restorations as well, just simply great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use I am refurbishing a 2005 Jinma Tractor. The Chinese engines are painted inside with a similar product. I wanted a fuel - oil resistant product to paint some external components as well as to renew the material on the inside of the castings. It is so much fun to paint it on that my wife took over for me. It goes along way, we transferred some to a 1 cup glass jar to paint out of so we could keep the can sealed and clean. Drys fast! Very happy with it so far. If you want a super even coat you should probably spray it. Cleans up with acetone. Jim B

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glyptal Glyptal has bee my choice for coating internal surfaces for years. It allows the rough interior casting surfaces to smooth out and allows lubrication to return to it's sump without "clogging" or building up as can be seen when re-building components. It applies easily and a quart goes a long way. IT IS PRICEY, if you can afford it I wolud reccommend it's useage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from magnificent I have used this stuff for years on everything that has an oil product in it! from Race motors to rear end differentials,to Air compressor pumps and tanks.. you cannot beat this stuff if you want it sealed up for slick for oil returns, and cleaner oil too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expensive but unique I used this to coat the inside of a transfer case I was rebuilding for my truck to prevent seepage of the lubricants through the case. The stuff is very expensive but a quart goes a very long way. I used less than 1/4 to do the whole case, and I could find no other product that does what Glyptal does. Make sure you have good ventilation and the use of a cartridge-type respirator doesn't hurt. The fumes from this stuff are VERY strong. It begins to dry quickly and is difficult to clean up, so good prep and disposable brushes are a good idea. Also be careful where you apply it, it sets up very hard and is difficult to remove in areas where the thickness could cause fitment or clearance issues. I can't speak to it's performance as I have not put the part back into service but it came well recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glyptal paint is a non conductor of electricity. Edison invented it. What I usually use it for is the inside of iron blocks that run on Nitro. The Nitro doesn't have an effect on it like other paints do I used this paint on a rotory table that goes on my mill. This will keep the oil from leeking from the inside out.

Glyptal is used to seal the internal surfaces of the engine block for fastest oil return to the sump. Make sure the surface is absolutely FREE OF GREASE OR OIL! Our Metal Wash concentrate (10120) or PRE Painting Prep (10041 Z) with the Engine Brush Kit (46035) does a great job of cleaning the engine block. Be careful to avoid getting paint on machined surfaces or in oil passage ways. Can be thinned with Xylol or Xylene.
