Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product for DIY home projects! I bought this gun about 2 weeks ago. I really like it does a very good job and fun to use. I just use it for spraying relatively small things but it would definitely work for big projects to. It is very user friendly. The one thing is where the gun meets the plastic part came loose but it was an eazy fix just used some loctite super glue and some E6000 fix it up very nice built a stand out of wood works great make sure to have some kind of filter so no water gets through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great I tried the kit for the first time today. I haver done anything like this before. I needed a particular color, so I had to blend colors to acheive the results I needed. It worked out perfectly. This kit is so easy to use. The only down side is the cable/wires, are so thick and rigid, its hard to maneuver the spray gun.I,m glad I have this kit and will now become a powder coating junkie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super product with great results... I bought this with the intention of coating a part here or there. The process is so easy and fun that now I'm getting work from car club members. With a little time prepping your area and the part you can achieve professional results. If you are creative and a bit artistic the sky is the limit. The chip chart is fantastic and the powder coating book has some great info. My process keeps improving all the time and now I'm coating multi-color parts with no problem. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value, Lacks quality control. I use three different powder guns. Eastwoods original powder coating gun is still by far my favorite for small parts. I bought one of these a couple of years ago and got A LOT of use from it. I decided it was time to replace the old one.... The new one arrived. The first thing I noticed is that the powder "Deflector" tip wouldn't fit on the newer style gun (the gun is slightly different than the old model). More importantly, the cord from the power box to the gun itself is about a foot and a half SHORTER than the old one! I can't mount the box to the wall anymore. I need to basically clip it to my belt so I reach the parts! Highly disappointed about that. Most important observation, the gun leaks powder from where the powder lid mounts to the powder tube. Every time I pull the trigger, I'm spraying powder out from the sides of my gun rather than on the part itself. Still works, just costs me twice as much in powder. Overall, Great gun for a hobby/home user. Could use a little quality control, and a little more wire for the gun. For your money, you will not find an easier powder gun to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Great product. Works great. So far Ive done a few pieces and it turns out beautifully. It all comes down to prep work. The longer you prep the metal the better the result

What is recommended air compressor size for this? I have a large one, but seems like an overkill, and a smaller one meant for air brushing, but might not be enough.

Asked by: nshimala
This powder gun only draws about 1 CFM at the required pressure, which means it can be used on nearly any compressor. We have some customers using these kits on some airbrush compressors with no issues.

Plan on coating some small handeld tool boxs and some hanging side cabinets, should I coat and cure in stages or could I do the whole box and cure all at once???

Asked by: thatch
I would coat and cure the entire item, rather then in stages. This will allow a full universal coverage and not have any concern about masking or worrying about burning the already existing powder

About Hotcoat Deluxe Powder Coat Kit

Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder-coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections.

One 8-oz. bottle of powder covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy, since you can simply sweep-up the oversprayed powder. Contains no environmentally harmful solvents. HotCoat Powder Coating System requires a 5-10psi compressed air source and dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven).

Use a disposable dust mask when handling or applying powder. Powder, like common flour, can be explosive when suspended in the air in high concentrations. To minimize any explosion risk, sweep up—do not vacuum—powder from the floor. Cure powder in a well-ventilated area. The urethane powders we sell liberate a very minute amount of isocyanates when the powder flows out. This usually occurs about 3-5 minutes after the part is placed in the oven to bake. Wear a respirator with fresh filter cartridges when curing or inspecting flow-out progress.
