Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stud Welder Nozzle is Great / Slide Hammer is junk I really like the stud welder nozzle. It was easy to install and use on my Eastwood Mig 135 that I like a lot. The recommended settings in the instructions were just right for the metal I was working on. The problem is with the slide hammer. As the other reviewer stated the "knurled wheel" wears out, it can be reversed and spare is included with the kit. The "knurled wheel" or locking cam as the instruction booklet calls it only lasts for about 20-30 pins before it needs to be replaced. Eastwood should provide a better locking cam or at least replacement cams for purchase or provide a better slide hammer with this kit to make it viable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not work as advertised I consider myself a good welder and teachable but I've almost worn out the knobs on my welder and the set screw on the adapter and still can't get this silly thing to work. I've tried .025 and .030 wire, changed speed and heat and the pins either pull off or burn in half. I've moved the adapter up and back and get the same result. Thought maybe the fender wasn't clean enough so spent close to an hour trying to set it up on new steel. I finally got so frustrated that I abandoned the effort and bought a cheap stud gun from a discount tool supplier (which works great!). I'm very sorry I wasted money on this tool and would gladly return it for a full refund!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For serious hobbiest not for production use Ordered dent puller kit to work on father/son project truck. Could not justify cost of stand alone stud welder for such random, occasional use. We followed the instructions and the added warnings to keep the roller taught before slide hammering. Had no issues at all. It may help teach a little patience to some individuals.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor product I have used a stud welder and would not spend $99.00 on something that wares out so quick. With a actual stud welder you dont have to drag your welder out. Plus, the slide hammer that came with the stud welder did not ware out on a truck i'm working on that had multiple dents in amost every panel. Do yourself a favor and buy a real stud welder for $250.00 that comes with a good slide hammer, plus studs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nozzle works well, slide hammer lets system down. Only having a little bit of work I couldn't do with the hammer and dolly I figured this kit would be a good option over the more expensive regular stud welding kits. The nozzle works well and fits on most standard Miller/Hobart guns. It was easy and quick to set up and works well. If you get a spare nozzle you can leave the adapter attached and set up and just swap nozzles in seconds. The problem is the included slide hammer. It uses a knurled wheel to grab the pins. While it can both be reversed and a spare is included it just doesn't hold up. It quickly either becomes clogged with metal or worn smooth and then is essentially useless on the pins. In fact it's so bad I didn't even get through the first job I tried to use it on. I like the nozzle but they either need to include a better pin adapter for the slide hammer or just sell the adapter and make you buy a better puller separately.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Welder adapter is great; Slide hammer makes the system a pain. Welding the pins on is a snap with the adapter. It was easy to set up and work. The annoying part about the kit is the slide hammer. The small knurled cam on the slide hammer is weak and wears out quickly. They provide a second cam in the kit however about twenty pins is about all the cam can handle. You can flip the cam for additional use but the slide hammer ruins this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from could use major improvement the cam system on the slide is worthless, 2 cams lasted maybe 19 pins altogether using both sides. welding nozzle almost NEVER works correctly on any curved or radiused surface. pins melted too easily before getting enough penetration to avoid being ripped from the steel, slide itself works great. will not likely be buying another one...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faulty Again, tthe start of something good. Iwill be drill and tapping a large thunb screw to hold the studs and do awau with the cam lock which is engineedered at the scrong spirial, which is why it wears prematurely and does not griv properly. Bad design, fixable.

After reading the reviews on this product, it seems that there is a general concern about the slide hammer from just about everyone who wrote a review. Has this issue been addressed and has the slide that comes with the kit been upgraded/more dependable?
