Eastwood MIG175 and Versa Cut Plasma Cutter Kit is rated 4.5385 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent service Just received the MIG 175 and Versa Cut Plasma. Prompt shipping. Had the MIG evaluated by CWI/Tech School Instructor. His opinion - "I want one!" Excellent bead and penetration quality with 1/8 and .375 thick steel. Instructor really liked the variable setting capabilities of the MIG. He felt it was a well made machine that should serve in a small shop or hobby environment. Aluminum spool gun not evaluated. Box appeared to have been dropped in shipment and handle on the spool guy was cracked. Contacted Eastwood and they promptly sent a replacement. Test cuts with the Plasma cutter were very easy. Handled 1/8 th steel easily, .375 well. Appears more air pressure is the secret to getting professional appearing cuts. Learning curve? About 15 seconds!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Welder is OK, Plasma cutter not working properly after 2 cuts I will not give a complete review until issue is resolved. I sent a email to Tech Support waiting answer. Issue is plasma cutter comes on initially, will not reignite for second cut. All connections are tight and metal is new and clean.Air is ample and only air comes out with no spark. Not sure, but power light stays on even when unit is in off position. Review is for plasma only. welder is good so far. Alot of plastic in construction of both units which reduces cost but makes for lesser quality than metal housings and connections.Get this resolved and I will give a much higher review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy and content with purchase Great price, fast delivery, easy to set up, fantastic warranty, cuts and welds as advertised what’s there to complain about? Where else are you going to go to get such a bargain? Nowhere but Eastwood, that’s where. I’m a happy camper with my purchase. I’m aware a few people have had issues and that was a concern of mine but I also knew that Eastwood is a stand up company and if I had issues they would make them right. They have been a very reliable company to me throughout the years and I trust them. I’ll be back that’s for sure. Thanks Eastwood!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with both machines I have been a Weld Technician for 15 years. I have worked with only indstrial welders. I was a little sceptical of the welder at first but now that I have welded 20 ga & 1/4" I am impressed with the welder as well as the plasma cutter. When I first seen the Plasma cutter I the size made me think this was a mistake. But when I used it to cut 2 1/4" peices of steel welded together off a boat 2 trailer I became very happy with both machines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely satisfied with both machines and with the customer service from Eastwood I ordered the special on the Versa Cut Plasma Cutter and the 175 MIG Welder. Both were shipped quickly and safely. I had some questions about the Plasma Cutter nozzle, my questions were quickly handled by Customer Service. I have since used both the cutter and the welder and am very satisfied with each.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Pleased with this Purchase! I bought this kit about 2 months ago to get moving on the body work portion of a classic car restoration. My last welder (a 110v cheapy) gave up the ghost and never really worked well anyway. I had my mind all but made up on a handler 140, but with the features included in this package and the 30 day return policy I decided to give this a shot. IM VERY GLAD I DID! Thus far both the welder and the plasma cutter have worked flawlessly. Ive only been doing thin stuff (patch panels and some exhaust work), but the welder (using c25 gas) has performed great once I got my settings dialed in and as long as I did my part technique-wise. The plasma cutter is less finnicky with the settings, and has zipped through sheet metal cleanly and VERY quickly and saved a ton of time and effort over the old cutting wheel for many jobs (and thats only using it attached to a 110v circuit, havent even tried 220 yet). NOTEABLE PROS: 1.The infinite power adjustment on the welder is worlds better than the 4 or 5 position tapped settings on most welders in this class. It may seem minor (it did to me) until you really get your setting dialed in. It makes a HUGE difference. 2.So far function from both the welder and the plasma cutter have been flawless. They work smoothly, reliably, predictably every time I hit the trigger. Smooth cuts and smooth beads. 3. Eastwood shipped QUICK. Ordered on a Monday, had them on a Thursday. Well Packaged and easy to set up. Regulator included and 10 minutes out of the box I was ready to strike arcs. 4.The plasma cutter works on 110 or 220 with the provided adapter. I havent tried it on 220 yet as with sheet metal its been unnecessary. 110 power zips right through without breaking a sweat. Im sure 220 is better, but its nice to have the option. 4.Standard consumables. I have 3 box stores within 10 minutes of my house that carry all the consumables I need for both. Thats very reassuring if your in the middle of panel fitting and something gets boogered up. NOTEABLE CONS: 1.If I had one complaint, and it is a minor one, the power cord on the welder is VERY short. This is easily remedied by an extension cord (FYI I made my own for less than half the cost of the pre-fabbed jobs) and now I can reach anywhere in my shop. 2. Not really a con, but the welding shield and hammer/brush included with both are pretty cheesy and all but useless. Id trade all that for another extra set of consumables. Bottom line is for a hobbyist who doesnt have infinite funds, this set up is really one to consider. I havent gotten into thicker materials (YET), but for body panels and axhaust this setup has been plenty powerful, reliable, and easy to work with (the settings have been around D4 for sheetmetal, which leaves alot left for the thicker stuff. I have no doubt cranking it up will do the job). Eastwood hit a home run with this one, it was spot on for the backyard resto guy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My is the 175 with the versa cut 60 These two machines are great for the price. I never owned a mig or plasma cutter before but have used industrial ones. I have the cart also and althought it could be a little stronger it is working out good. The only thing I added was to install two receptacles and a 25 foot so extention to the cart. I do not have to keep swapping plugs. My friend bought one also and are using the Al spool gun to build a boat.

Does this plasma cutter have an internal air compressor or do you need to hook one up to it? If so how big of a compressor do you need? Also along the same lines does the versa cut 60 have a internal air compressor? Trying to decide between the 2.

Asked by: steevo
Both the Plasma 40 and Plasma 60 require an external air supply. The Plasma 40 and 60 both require a compressor that can supply 5-7cfm @ 60psi.

Are consumables available for the MIG and plasma? I'm concerned that I won't be able to find consumables locally, so asking here.

Asked by: frodo84
Hello, Yes the consumables can be found locally. For the plasma 40 you will have to make sure that your local supply house carries hypertherm torches. With the MIG welder the torch style is a TWECO style torch, which again is one of the most popular torches in the industry.
