Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice once you figure out how to put together Works good now that I got it together right. The instructions are horrible. The tape does slide off, but if you use both the holders together on one side(one on each side of the tape to keep it from sliding off) it works good. Also there are some metal bushings that go inside the tape holders that are not in the instructions. I eliminated a couple of the plastic pieces for the paper. Basically from outside in, had plastic piece, spring, washer and paper roll. The other side from paper roll out, had washer, spring and plastic piece. Hope that makes sense!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tool It works great as a little step stool when painting car roofs, and the masking apparatus works flawlessly. I got it on sale with free shipping (Buyers Club) I don't know how I ever got along without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect hobbyist tool I'm in the process of my first attempt at painting a car. When you're on a budget, spending money on a masking machine goes far down the list. However, this was such a great value I couldn't pass up the productivity gain. Body work is hard enough and I didn't want to mess around with paper and tape too. It's perfect for the hobbyist. Pros: - excellent price to quality - easy to use - saves a ton of fumbling around with tape and paper Cons: - setup instructions are weak for an amateur, a couple of pictures with paper and tape in it would have saved me some time. (I had to go to a CarCraft article to see a picture with paper in it) - putting it together took more time than I wanted. (trick, put it all together loose first. I got really stuck on loading the paper onto the rod. Not intuitive what the springs and clamps do. The good news is it's very forgiving so just go for it based on the pictures.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall, very nice for the price After reading the previous reviews regarding the instructions lacking in detail, I was prepared to do my best "Tim Allen Tool Guy" impression and fake my way through it. There were a couple of places where the instructions (all steps) could have been more detailed, although it really only took me 20 minutes to assemble, so no real complaint and I have a masking machine at a price I could justify for my limited use, and the even the wife agreed. Overall I'm happier than a brothel on nickel night!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bargain You do get what you pay for but this thing does exactly what it's supposed to. Puts tape on paper and let's you stand on it. It's not the best quality but it is worth the buy. And like everyone else day the directions are crazy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from had to modify masking tape loose on tape spool. After paper role adjustment to clear frame leg, had to modify tape spool and adjust with spacers and washers to align properly on paper where tape would not hit stool leg JOHN

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worthless instructions Overall for the money I think its great, but instructions don't even mention the right size bolts that come with the kit. I think it will really help someone who's on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool It works great. the only downside is the instructions are almost worthless. Most should not have problem. Kit did short me couple of wing nuts.

How high is the step? I am looking for a sturdy stool to sit on while I do things like work in flower beds, clean out lower kitchen cabinets, etc. Appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks!

Asked by: Trisha
It would be suitable as a general purpose seat as well as a stool.
