Oil Eater Cleaner and Degreaser 1 Gallon is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from works great in the laundry, average on parts I purchased the desktop parts washer and a gallon of the parts washer as recommended, I mixed 3 to 1 a bit stronger than recommended. The product does work. a brush and significant amount of time is required. Annoyances (to me) is when using the product on seriously greasy parts, the brush gets clogged up with grease. then I resort to brake cleaner to clean the brush, then back at it with the grease eater. I also noticed that parts left to dry after cleaning show signs of rust or corrosion. a shot of light oil keeps that at bay. Maybe my expectations are out of line or my mixture was too weak, but It would be nice not have parts sit for a bit before cleaning. that being said, it's a good product, but a bit spendy for the amount of time required to clean parts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised , very surprised Reluctantly made the switch from mineral spirits & bought some Oil Eater on a tip from a buddy. To say the least I was really surprised it worked cleaning parts. I just finished washing a load of dirty shop towels & work gloves, came out like new. I used to trow them a way.

I want to use this in one of your 20 gal parts washers how many gal do I need for this?

Asked by: Inthegrease
Oil Eater’s proprietary corrosion inhibiting formula allows for use in a multitude of parts washer types. Start with the following dilutions for parts washing: Flex Line/Sink Style/Brake Washer/Hand Washing: 3 to 4 parts water to 1 part Oil Eater. Ultrasonic unit: 20 to 25 parts water to 1 part Oil Eater. Heated Dip Tank: 30 to 40 parts water to 1 part Oil Eater. Agitating Unit: 40 to 50 waters water to 1 part Oil Eater. Spray Wash Cabinet: 70 to 100 parts water to one part Oil Eater. If your parts come out of the bath feeling slippery or you have a white residue, you have used a little too much Oil Eater---add more water. When you have Oil Eater proper diluted with water, the water will keep the oil/grease/etc. in suspension away from the part. Another benefit from proper dilution is that when not in use, Oil Eater will release the oil. The oil will rise to the surface. So when you turn your parts washer off for the day you can use a skimmer or simply put an “oil only” absorbent in the reservoir & the oil that has risen to the surface will be removed from the solution helping your solution last longer. If Oil Eater is needed at a stronger dilution than above & foaming is an issue, a defoamer can be used without affecting the effectiveness of Oil Eater. If your unit is filtered, use a 50 micron or above filter, or you will filter out the solids that make Oil Eater work.

About Oil Eater Cleaner and Degreaser 1 Gallon

Oil Eater® Cleaner & Degreaser Original Formula is a highly concentrated, alkaline based cleaner designed specifically to be versatile and powerful. Oil Eater® achieves its cleaning strength through the combined actions of surface tension reduction, coupling ability, builders and alkalinity.

Surface Tension Reduction

Oil Eater® uses a combination of non-petroleum solvents and specially formulated surfactant to lower the surface tension of the water and to penetrate both water soluble and oil soluble soils. Once the surface tension of the water is lowered, more thorough contact of the soiled surface by the cleaner is ac hieved.

Coupling Ability

Oil Eater® is a very strong coupler. With this capability and its inherent cleaning power, Oil Eater® works to pull oil and water soluble dirt from the soiled surface. Oil Eater’s unique emulsification properties cause the coupling of oil soluble dirt and water. This action keeps the soil suspended in the cleaning solution preventing the redeposit of the soils on the surface being cleaned.

Built for Strength

Oil Eater® uses highly refined chemicals known as builders to improve cleaning strength. These inorganic materials work to disperse solid soils and enhance water softening.

Oil Eater® is a highly alkaline product. This means that the pH of Oil Eater® is above 7.0. Alkalinity is essential to cleaning fats and oils. It works to breakup these soils into small particles. This then allows the other cleaning actions of Oil Eater® to perform more efficiently.
