Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall good stuff Just sprayed and everything went down nice. Layed it down thick and it was on the colder side of the temperature spectrum. Still no runs and nice and smooth. I did add 20% reducer to the epoxy and 10% to the paint. It looked like it was going to end up shiny because it was dry to the touch and still really shiny in places. A few hours later the gloss left to become that perfect satin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product. Rat Rod Black Kit w/2K Black Primer is really good paint, and I'm really happy with the results. I painted my 47 Chevy truck with this kit. I had to use two kits to finish the job. It was my paint job, so I probably wasted a lot of paint. Overall it's really good and affordable kit. Thanks eastwood.

Can I use this to paint over the OEM paint that is in good shape? There is no cracking or peeling at all. I will have to take out a few dents and use a little body filler also. Painting a Suburban so I would probably need 2 kits?.

Asked by: Rkfltrx
Yes, this paint will work great over any cured automotive finish. Complete your body work as needed, prime with 2k urethane primer, block sand the primer with 400 grit, prep the surface with 400 to 600 grit paper elsewhere, and then top coat with this Rat Rod paint. Two kits should be enough for your Suburban. If you are doing the jambs, underhood area, back sides of panels as well I would recommend picking up a third kit, or quarts as needed to avoid issues arising from running out mid-job.

How many kits needed approx. for an FJ cruiser? Also do I need to remove the current clear coat or base coat prior to application?
