Stop rust in its tracks! Our Rust Encapsulator has been reformulated with TWICE the corrosion resistance!
You thought it was good before...wait ’til you try this Rust Encapsulator! It seals and stops rust and corrosion from spreading, but it performs even better than our original formula. Tested against well-known brands, the Eastwood Rust Encapsulator has proven to be superior in sunlight resistance, preventing rust creep, and overall durability.
- Twice the corrosion resistance of our original formula for greater durability (tested to 500 hours in a salt-spray chamber)
- Epoxy-fortified for better adhesion and topcoat compatibility
- Penetrates deeper to prevent rust from spreading or forming, even in hard-to-reach areas
- Cures faster, and the low-VOC formula is acceptable in California
- 15-oz. aerosol covers about 10 sq. ft.
- As seen on "My Classic Car" TV show

About Rust Encapsulator Black 15 oz.aerosol
Eastwood Rust Encapsulator has been tested by an independent lab to be one of the most effective rust-preventive products yet. Rust Encapsulator is a great primer for floor pans and other underbody parts. It fills tiny pin-holes and surface irregularities, and is compatible with lacquer, enamel and urethane topcoats (including Eastwood Chassis Black). For the absolute ultimate rust remedy, first brush or spray-on Eastwood Rust Converter, then prime with Rust Encapsulator. One 15-oz. aerosol covers about 10 sq. ft., and contains no isocyanates. Heat-resistant up to 400 degrees F. Made in the USA.

Use a wire brush to remove loose rust, scale and paint, and remove dust, grease and oil deposits. Feather surrounding paint with 220-grit sandpaper. Shake can for at least 2 minutes once the mixing ball starts to rattle. Hold the Rust Encapsulator can 10-12" above surface as you spray. A single coat dries to the touch in 20 minutes, and is thoroughly dry in 3-4 hours at 68 degrees F. For greater durability, a second coat can be applied 1 hour after the first. Allow 6-8 hours after the last coat before applying topcoat. Use over or under body fillers.
(Q) Can Rust Encapsulator be applied with the Undercoating System?
(A) Technically, yes, but this application isn't recommended because Rust Encapsulator requires surface to be free of grease, oil, and loose rust. The best product to coat inside box sections is the Heavy-Duty Anti-Rust (16017ZP). This waxy, oily product flows into pinch welds and through rust to seal surfaces from contact with moisture and air, but cannot be painted over, so it's only suitable for inside box sections that don't show. Use lacquer thinner for cleanup.

Work in a well-ventilated area when applying this product. The use of a respirator is recommended. Shake vigorously for 2 minutes before spraying.
In places where little or no surface prep can be done, our Heavy-Duty Anti-Rust (16017ZP) is actually a better choice for applying into blind areas such as box sections. Buy 3 or more quart cans and save!

The only gripe i have with this product is its 48 hour dry/cure time. I would greatly speed up progress on my project if this wasn't so large of a dry period.Value Quality Price -

I have used this quite a bit on suspension parts etc. on my restoration. Coverage was good and the fact it was aerosol is a major bonus compared to other products.Value Quality Price
The major drawback I found was the product can still be washed off with solvents like lacquer thinner. I have even found that some lubes/oils can make the finish sticky after it has dried suggesting the finish is being re-dissolved.
I suspected this might happen given the aerosol contents were the typical thinners etc. and it was confirmed after I had sprayed my steering box. The paint had dried and cured for well over a week when I decided I probably should clean and replace the grease in the steering box. While cleaning the grease out with solvents I noticed the Rust Encapsulator coating was coming off the outside of the steering box where the solvent was draining.
I plan on using the product in areas where I am sure no solvents (gas/oil etc.) will come into contact with it. In those areas on my suspension where I did use it, I have top coated with another product in an effort to isolate the Rust Encapsulator from the inevitable grease and oil that will get on the suspension from ball joints etc.

I used the "Rust Encapsulator" since I couldn't sandblast the axle like the other parts. I was easy and quick to use. I then painted the axle with the Glossy Black Chassis paint and it looks fantastic.Value Quality Price -

Excellent product used in prep for under hood black. I needed a system that could be used easily on a car that was not a frame off restoration. My engine compartment on a 56 Chevy restoration looks so good people thought I had pulled the engine and removed the entire front clip. Careful masking will give you great results without a complete tear down.Value Quality Price -

This is a really nice product. I've used it to prime small areas or welded seams to "lock" the rust in for good. One complaint; I had a new can of the red rust encapsulator that sat around for about 8 months, and when I went to use it I found it had congealed in the can and was impossible to spray... I had to throw the whole can away (23 bucks!). All spray paints have a shelf life, so only buy when you know you're going to use it soon.Price Value Quality -

I used the Rust Encapsulator to"Trap" some light surface rust on my newly made Rock Sliders. I had just finished when I was reminded we had to go out. I my haste i for got to put them inside. It was almost a week before I got back to the shop. Not a trace of rust and the Sliders sat out in a couple Of Fla. Frog Drowning Rains.I will not hesitate to recomend this to my friends.Price Value Quality
