About Eastwood Fast Etch 16 Fluid Oz

Acid-based Fast Etch™ is a powerful, rust-fighting formula created specifically for auto restorers. It reaches even inaccessible areas, quickly dissolving iron oxide completely as it leaves a protective zinc-phosphate coating. Fast Etch can be sprayed, brushed, or used as a parts dip. Works as an easy alternative to abrasive blasting for rust removal. Not a primer. Treated surfaces should be wiped with our PRE Painting Prep (10041Z) or a thinner before priming and painting. 1 quart of Fast Etch™ treats 50-75 square feet.

I have been using this fast etch for a little while. On my 2nd spray bottle. I strip motorcycle fuel tanks and the chemical I use takes it down to the barest of conditions and after it's removed and rinsed, you can watch the rust (flash rust) form. With fast etch, it reverses and prevents this from happening again. I also use this to spray spots on my truck where I see rust forming on bolts and nuts on the frame. And other things around like my trailers. Solid product!

This is a phosphoric-acid based product that leaves behind a zinc coating on steel and iron. Works great at neutralizing light to medium surface rust and is excellent for prepping bare metal prior to painting. Spray and leave on for 30-60 min; do not let it dry. Clean with Acetone or Wax/Grease remover. DO NOT USE WATER!! Heavier rust must be soaked for longer periods. Very pleased with results!

used the product per the instructions to clean and protect some bolts from a project the rust turned black and the bare metal showed no "zink" coating at all. I tried multiple times on different metals and found the same results each time. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Eastwood Note: This product leaves a Zinc-Phosphate coating not to be confused with a Zinc plating. The Zinc coating as seen on new hardware is applied by an electroplating process that can not just be sprayed on.

Receny purchased as a reccomendation from another site. Glad I did. Sprayed on and rust disappeared. Few apps and my rotors are protected and rust free. Leaves an off white residue which does become neutral.

I purchased this product to try on my tractor engine block that did not have any paint on it. I applied fast etch per instructions and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. I cleaned with pre a couple weeks later prior to painting and paint went on great. Highly recommend this product.

Bought 16 0z. bottle to see how Fast etch would work on a set of rusty MGA rocker arms. The answer is - GREAT! With no elbow grease, they cleaned up nicely. Used acetone to rinse them off, then LPS 2 to preserve their renewed beauty until I rebush & reface them.
