Works well with my Hobart Welder (Posted on 3/21/13)

I bought this knowing that it was not designed for my Hobart Plasma cutter...but for the price I figured I couldn't go to far wrong. The cutter does not fit in the designed direction...but if you flip it over...the cutting head fits right in and holds the cutting tip at the right height. I can cut either direction just by holding the tip in the cutter with one hand and holding the guild in the pre-drilled hole with the other. Takes a little practice...but I can now cut perfect circles and arches with just a little clean-up grinding. Glad I found this tool...thanks Eastwood...FireForge Art Glass
Works well if used in counterclockwise direction (Posted on 2/16/13)

I found that if you are cutting out circles, you must move in a counterclockwise direction. Otherwise(as slag builds on the bottom side of the center rotating ring) the unit rotates as a whole and unscrews the outer nozzle allowing the electrode to lower and touch workpiece, thereby burning up the electrode and inner nozzle. Aside from that it works as advertised.

Let me start off I knew it wouldn't work Keep reading
Simple but well-made Excellent value I knew I would have to send it to my machinist To work on my spectrum 625 extreme Going to buy one more for other machines Most my work is one-off prototype The only thing that I would have to say negative Need to think outside the box on designing To make it more versatile for other Machine Not everybody has the luxury of a machinist In their shop
Thank you.

Surprised by the earlier reviews - The arc started with no problem using my Eastwood plasma cutter running on 120V. The instructions are explicit about positioning the plasma head in the tool. There are two positions possible - one will place the plasma head close to the surface, the other way it most likely would be too far away to strike an arc. Although I didn't have a problem cutting a circle with the current guide, Russell's comment about a magnetic/screw center holder is a good one. To keep the center point from walking around I just drilled a small hole to keep the point centered. I'm going to cobble a magnetic center point together and give that a try.

I had been waiting for this product to come out for a long time.I was very disappointed. no magnet to hold the circle cutter guide to the metal. No threaded hole to hold it to the metal with a screw either.that Means 2 hand operation Worst of all with the plasma cutter hooked up to 220 and the amperage turned up all the way the arc will not start cutting on 14 gauge sheet metal,
Doesn't Work (Posted on 10/14/12)

The plasma cutting guide doesn't allow the tip of the plasma cutter to come close enough to the metal to start the cut. My Eastwook plasma cutter does not start a cut unless the tip of the cutter actually touches the metal to be cut. Then, the cutter works OK. The wheels on the cutting guide do not allow the cutter to start the cut. All that happens is the metal gets slightly discolored from the plasma cutter "arc".. I have emailed AND called Eastwood about this problem, but I have not received any replies. Did someone say that Eastwood customer service was good? Not for me!!
BTW, even handheld, the cutter tip needs to touch the metal to start the cut (much like "striking and arc" with a stick welder). I guess I am done with Eastwood. You really do get what you pay for.
