Details

Magnetic Backing Tool makes it easy to weld-shut a hole in the middle of a panel With this versatile tool, you'll leave your 2 hands free for welding while the copper head backs-up that hole. Strong magnetic mount secures the adjustable 1-1/4"- diameter copper swivel back-up head up against the hole to be repaired.
  • Weld material won't stick to copper head
  • For holes up to 1" in diameter
  • Perfect for use with your MIG, TIG or stick welder

About Magnetic Hole Plug Welding Tool

Just attach tool to the back of the panel to be repaired and adjust the arm to back-up a hole up to 1" in diameter. Weld-deposited metal will not stick to the paddle, and the copper helps absorb heat to minimize warping. Limited lifetime mfr's. warranty.

This is a fantastic tool, but it would be nice if Eastwood would sell replacement magnets. Once the magnet gets weak, it will just fall off.

I've used this to fill holes in a truck cab, and it works like a charm! The magnet is good and strong, and the copper pad is just the right size for filling holies!

I used this tool on 16 gauge metal on my Stahl truck body to fix some holes. The magnetic held great and never fell off even upside down.

I used it to fill some holes in the floor of an old military trailer...works great, but the magnet needs to be stronger, especially if you have some undercoating that is on the back side of the surface you are attempting to repair. It is cool to have two free hands, and to not have to be a contortion artist!!
Great for using on top of flat surfaces (Posted on 1/25/10)

the Magnetic Hole Plug Welding Tool is great for using on flat surfaces. but falls off sometimes on bottem sides or at 90 degrees, if it had a stronger magnet it would be great. I used it on plug welds and seams on my floor boards and will try it again soon fixing a cut up radio opening in a dash.
A great addition to all of my welding gear! (Posted on 1/25/10)

This little tool is super for plug welding anything where it's difficult to reach and weld at the same time. Even for close up work it allows you to have a free hand to steady your mig handle. I love it!
