About Eastwood Shrinker/Stretcher Set

Reproduce wheel wells, dog legs, trunk corners...almost any metal fabrication requiring a combination curve and angle. Shrinker contracts metal for inside curves; stretcher expands metal for outside curves.

The hand-operated shrinker/stretcher press multiplies your pressure by a factor of 45, creating leverage to work on up to 18-gauge mild steel, 20-gauge stainless, and 16-gauge aluminum. Clamps in your vice or mounts on your bench or pedestal stand.

2 jaws (shrinker/stretcher), 1 housing, 1 handle, and instructions

51437 Shrinker/Stretcher Jaw Set (The original-equipment jaws are of hardened steel to provide years of normal use, but if you work with stainless or a lot of carbon steel, the jaws will tend to wear out and replacement will be necessary.)

Use appropriate eye and hand protection when handling sheet aluminum or steel.

Tool works well, but quality control could be improved. Right out of the box the paint was peeling, it appears the body was rusty before the paint was applied. Seems to be a good value for the money though.

I just got the Shrinker/stretcher last week and fooled around with some scrap. It's very cool!! It's a bit slower to make a part with only one body and changing out the jaws but it's cost and probable use justified the purchase.
If you're restoring a car, this tool should be in your shop! I'm probably going to make kitchen utensiles as well as car parts ;-)

I have had the set for about a week and have made several pieces for my '49 Chev. This set is easy to setup, quick to switch heads and precise to use. I have made parts bend where they needed to be bent without heat, and have made parts straight after putting curved flanges on them with a hammer on anvil process. I love the shrinker/stretcher and I don't know how I managed without it. I do know things took a lot longer.
