(Q) Can Eastwood 2K Ceramic Chassis Black be applied directly over other finishes?
(A) Generally 2K Ceramic Chassis Black can be applied over most thoroughly cured finishes (finishes that cannot be indented with a thumbnail). Scuff first with 320-600-grit sandpaper and test a small area before coating the entire area. If lifting occurs, remove the lifting paint, sand the surrounding area, and seal the surface by priming first with 50242ZP Epoxy Primer mixed with 50243ZP Epoxy Primer Catalyst. NOTE: Eastwood Epoxy Primer can be reduced up to 20% with 50104ZP Zero-VOC Urethane Paint Reducer to use strictly as a sealer.

Poor chip resistance

Review by Bruno -
I used the gloss black over PPG epoxy primer. I first spayed my frame using 10% reducer. I used a Sharpe paint gun with a 1.6 tip. the overspray was excessive and left a rough almost silvery finish on parts of the frame. I sanded the frame with 320 grit and resprayed months later using more reducer this worked much better and left a nice finish. I used this paint because it claims to be chip resistant, it's not. This paint chips with the slightest contact with anything. I would not use it again, not worth the cost.Quality Price Value
