About Panel Flanger

Make professional-looking and -fitting replacement panels with a neat, precise, offset. Works equally well on the edges of fenders or quarter-panels after rusted areas are cut out. The Panel Flanger's 10" handle give you extra leverage for easy flanges. Strong cam-action jaws produce an offset lip in sheet steel up to 18-gauge, so replacement panels fit flush to the body. Very little grinding is required after welding, and almost no body filler.

Difficult to use (Posted on 10/9/12)

Should have designed with larger visegrips. does not produce a sharp bend, long panels are difficult to crimp a straight flange
A Good Start (Posted on 4/19/11)

Tool does a nice job (I was working with 18 ga. metal). I read the reviews before I purchased, so I wasn't surprised by not getting the precise bend as shown in the pictures. It bent the metal easily and if you mark the bend line before you start, you can line up the jaws and stay relatively straight.

The description says "makes neat and precise offset". After repeated practice the offset is anything but neat or precise and certainly doesn't look like the picture. The offset angle is not agressive enough in my personal opinion. I expected it to be closer to 90 degrees but it seems less than 45 degrees which leaves a bigger gap than I'd prefer to fill in with weld. Having said that, it is functional enough so I'll keep it. I felt the ad exaggerated the tools performance which lead to my disappointment.
Satisfactory results for Price (Posted on 1/9/10)

The device does give satisfactory results, however it doesn't look like the the picture shown. Making a flange in multiple steps doesn't result in perfect alignment and bends, but I am still using it and will continue to use it.

One improvement would be to make it with a longer handled vise grip so it wouldn't be so hard to set and release. I just flanged a floor pan edge about 5 feet long. Releasing the grip became tiresome.

Overall I shouldn't complain. If you want something a little easier to use, you should purchase the air operated flanger.
