About Original Hotcoat Powder Coating Gun

Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder-coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections.

One 8-oz. bottle of powder (not included) covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy, since you can simply sweep-up the oversprayed powder. Contains no environmentally harmful solvents. HotCoat powder coating requires a 5-10psi compressed air source and dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven). Imported.
Original HotCoat Gun with power source, instructions, FREE powder color chip chart
Power unit supplies over 9000v DC at 15 micro amps. Plugs into grounded 110-120v AC outlet. Gun requires as little as 0.5 cfm at 5-10 psi. The 50061 Eastwood Air Brush Compressor works well. Fill cup no more than 1/4 to 1/3 full, and wave the nozzle in a circular motion about 4-6" from the surface best results. Do not apply powder into a small boxed area.
(Q) How long does the baking process take?
(A) For improved flow out (less "orange peel"), bake coated parts at 500 degrees F until powder flows out (about 3-4 minutes for light sheet metal parts), then turn down the heat to 400 degrees F for a full 15 minutes.

(Q) How can I improve transfer efficiency?
(A) The 10128 HotCoat High-Performance Deflector greatly improves transfer efficiency. Use the Standard Deflector for getting powder in recessed areas.
Use Disposable Dust Mask (22055) when handling or applying powder. Powder, like common flour, suspended in the air in high concentrations can be explosive. To minimize any explosion risk - sweep up, do not vacuum powder from the floor. Cure powder in a well ventilated area. The urethane powders we sell liberate a very minute amount of isocyanates when the powder flows out. This usually occurs about 3-5 minutes after the part is placed in the oven to bake. Wear a respirator, like our SAS Bandit Respirator (11455 or 11456), cartridges when curing or inspecting flow out progress.

Leaks around cap x2 (Posted on 5/7/11)

I bought the kit with all the goodies and gave powder coating a whirl.

The whole process is really amazing and the end result gives a professional results for the DIY-er.

Out of the box the darn thing leaked from the cap. I followed the instructions and viewed Eastwood videos several times to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Called tech support and was told to send it back.

Forward three weeks later, the second Hotcoat gun leaks from the cap too! Though not as bad as gun #1, I cannot use this as my primary gun. It is now delegated for clear and candy coats.

When I sent #1 back, I purchased the dual voltage Hotcoat gun and it does not leak. It works great.

My only other gripe would be the flimsy grounding clip on both Hotcoat units.

My recommendation is to skip this gun entirely and go for the dual voltage gun. It's work the few extra dollars.

Made it impossible to use. Since the powder cup is pressurized, any leak causes powder to go everywhere.

I purchased this product the 9th of januaury, excited I promptly read the directions, went out to the garage and successfully PC my first item, a carb linkage bracket. I had already gotten an oven and all set up.

On my 2nd -6th attempt the powder would not stick to my parts. I re-prepped, made sure my ground was solid Grounded to earth at the generator transfer switch). I "tested" for the blue spark.....nadda.....since the product carries a 30 day warranty its not covered, just as well I suppose the internals are made in Taiwan and an internet search resulted in again...nadda....for replacemetn parts....100% satisfaction....yeah..uhuh...I would not recommend this product or rely on Eastwoods satifaction gaurantee again......

After using several guns, including Chicago Elec, this unit seems to be the best of the low end guns. Over the last 4 years I am on my third and last gun.

BE VERY CAREFUL!!!! Do not drop this gun as it will break just in front of where the air gun inserts into the tube!!! This happened to two of my guns... tried to glue, epoxy and even taped (which seemed to work for a bit).

When I questioned about the ease breaking, I was told, "be more careful" by the counter person. Not a problem... I have not purchased anything but powder in two years because of it...

With that said... the unit performs great. I have used it more often then my Wagner for small items and batches... Super easy to clean and use... though I would prefer a foot switch instead of the hand button... Great price, just "be more careful" and don't drop it.

Got this gun over 3yrs ago & its caused my ground up resto/upgrade of my 96 Dodge Ram to slow to a crawl! First 2yrs just used biggest toaster oven I could find for curing. Last year got 220v to my garage, 80gal/14.5cfm compressor, blast cabinet & a used kitchen oven. What wouldnt fit in my stove I used the Eastwood small IR Lamp. Results have been excellant. Im officially a powder coat junkie lol
Including nuts & bolts Ive coated over 260 items from my truck now.

My stroker mtr below total of 95 items I coated with Eastwood gun & powders (blue is custom mix of 4pwdrs)
Also included before & after of some of my front end pieces Ive done.

I had my gun for little over 1 year and just recently have used it alot and it is awesome. I am thinking about buying another one so I can have the 2 colors I use the most ready to go. I put a tray under my part and try to recapture most of the overspray

I wanted to try PC'g for a long time so when the demand came I choose this gun and an old toaster oven to start.
Two things I would say are important to follow, distance from your part and have plenty of space or a fan with a filter on it to suck up the excess powder cuase it goes everywhere.

Great product!! from a guy that has never powdercoated before, this gun, the prep materials, and the powders gave me a new hobby, and the stuff I've coated so far has turned out excellent. buying this kit will save you a ton of money letting you do it yourself as opposed to taking it to a pro shop.

highly recommend it!
