About Original Hotcoat Powder Coating Gun
Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder-coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections.
One 8-oz. bottle of powder (not included) covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy, since you can simply sweep-up the oversprayed powder. Contains no environmentally harmful solvents. HotCoat powder coating requires a 5-10psi compressed air source and dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven). Imported.

Power unit supplies over 9000v DC at 15 micro amps. Plugs into grounded 110-120v AC outlet. Gun requires as little as 0.5 cfm at 5-10 psi. The 50061 Eastwood Air Brush Compressor works well. Fill cup no more than 1/4 to 1/3 full, and wave the nozzle in a circular motion about 4-6" from the surface best results. Do not apply powder into a small boxed area.
(Q) How long does the baking process take?
(A) For improved flow out (less "orange peel"), bake coated parts at 500 degrees F until powder flows out (about 3-4 minutes for light sheet metal parts), then turn down the heat to 400 degrees F for a full 15 minutes.
(Q) How can I improve transfer efficiency?
(A) The 10128 HotCoat High-Performance Deflector greatly improves transfer efficiency. Use the Standard Deflector for getting powder in recessed areas.

Use Disposable Dust Mask (22055) when handling or applying powder. Powder, like common flour, suspended in the air in high concentrations can be explosive. To minimize any explosion risk - sweep up, do not vacuum powder from the floor. Cure powder in a well ventilated area. The urethane powders we sell liberate a very minute amount of isocyanates when the powder flows out. This usually occurs about 3-5 minutes after the part is placed in the oven to bake. Wear a respirator, like our SAS Bandit Respirator (11455 or 11456), cartridges when curing or inspecting flow out progress.

I'm new to the powder coat scene with this being my first gun I'm very pleased. Price, quality and ease of use are important to a newby... Eastwood hit the vital spots. Compare this system to the gun from a freight store... I'll take this setup. Much better in my opinion.Quality Price Value -

The assembly of the product looks a little less than the price, but the functionality is great. I wish it had a build in down regulator. Easy to use, works great.Price Value Quality
I bought this to powder coat a product I had developed, this purchase took my product another step up in professionalism. -

This is easier and cleaner to use than rattlecans. The first use pays for the gun in itself. I love saving myself tons of money. It is fun coating parts that I can proudly take credit for the results I created myself. The instructions are great. You have to go out of your way to get undesirable results. This is my favorite purchase I have made in years!Quality Price Value -
Inexpensive, cheaply made, but gets the job done.

I bought this gun back in 2006 and have used it to coat hundreds of parts from screws to giant braces and brackets. The gun works great if you can keep it from breaking. I've re-glued the tube to the gun handle multiple times until I finally decided to install set screws to make it permanent. That's when I found the internal piece was broken. I could probably make a new piece out of steel, but it might be better to just buy a new gun.Quality Price Value
Tips: When the powder doesn't stick to your part, try touching the electrode tip to the part to draw a spark. It seems to help the powder stick as if it establishes a path of conductivity. Also, pre-heat the parts to 200-250F. Make sure they are clean and grease free. I use brake cleaner because it is available and cheap.
Remember to bake everything for 20m minimum once the powder flows. Use an IR thermometer to verify temp. It's OK to bake longer. I shoot for 30m on critical parts. Of course, beware of clears as they can be over-baked. Pre-heat heavy parts like intake manifolds as they take too long to come up to temp and may not allow the paint to flow out completely before it starts curing. This will result in paint that doesn't stick well, has a textured/wrinkled finish, or other problems. -

I basically started up my business with this gun!! made more than 10X the money I spent. absolutely no issues until I pulled the ground from the plug. I have powdered over 200 pieces in a week with the single voltage gun and had success with candy colors as well. If you clean the equipment and take care of it, you will really get your moneys worthPrice Value Quality -

Hi, I ordered this gun because it was inexpensive and thought that it could last me a year or so... The gun worked for 2 seconds before shutting down and never coming back. Eastwood made the exchange for another one witch costs me 12$ in shipping back. I actually had the chance to experiment with two brackets i made. Then on a third bracket, the gun wasn't working anymore. I m not even sure its still under warranty. Anyway i willl have to pay shipping again so don't waste your time on this product.Price Value Quality -

Since new, the electrode that charges the powder was slightly bent forcing the little tubes to one side resulting in a non-uniform spray. Certainly use-able, but very annoying.Price Value Quality
The process works very well and the end result is great. However, while tapping the gun to remove the little tubes inside for cleaning, the nozzle actually broke off from the handle. This was noted in another review as well. Bottom line, works well but handle gently. -

I have coated several pieces for my baja 5b rc buggy and i can't get full coverage no matter what i do the gun seems to act like there is no ground (i would like to add that these pieces have been sand blasted then wire wheeled and de greased) so if you want to powder coat i highley recomend that you get the dual voltage gunQuality Price Value -
