I've used this for years to prep primarily hand held antique tools, knives, chisles. It works like a flexible grinding wheel. Yes a 50 or 60 grit would help.Price Value Quality -

Still have to start with 80Grit emorycloth to remove corrosion on stainless trim. After that the compounds are OK.Quality Price Value
Stainless trim does corrode and many times cannot be totally removed without compromising the metal.
