    Details

Underhood Black™ is the perfect lacquer paint for the correct OEM-matching finish under the hood...choose semi-gloss or matte Underhood Black™ Semi-Gloss is just the right 10-20 percent semi-gloss finish for most radiator supports, inner fender walls, underhood brackets, and other underhood parts. The Matte formula duplicates the near-zero gloss finish you find in many older cars for those parts. Both formulas resist chipping, scratches and light impacts.
    • This underhood paint has exceptional adhesion for an engine-compartment paint
    • Just degrease parts first for a factory-like finish
    • 11-oz. aerosol can covers 6 square feet; 1-quart can covers 48 square feet
Customer Review: "I'm building a 1969 Yenko Camaro. I have the subframe and arms powder coated. I used Underhood Black on the engine bay and the underfloor. You cannot tell the difference between the powder coating and the Eastwood paint...amazing results! Looks factory-new now."

    About Eastwood Underhood Black Paint

Underhood Black is the correct shade of black underhood spray paint for engine-compartment paint on radiator supports, inner fender walls, lug wrenches, jack bases, underhood brackets and other parts. Black underhood paints from typical hardware stores are either too thick, too glossy, or the wrong color.

Just clean, degrease, and prepare the parts well (use our Self-Etching Primers), then apply this engine-compartment paint for a professional, factory-like, underhood paint finish. Acrylic lacquer withstands up to 250 degreesF and goes on thin for a smooth finish that doesn’t hide surface details. Do not use with enamel primers.

Due to regulations pertaining to paint recycling, at this time we are unable to ship this product to Alberta, Canada.

    FAQs

    Q. How do I apply this underhood paint?
    A. Surface must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease and oil. For maximum protection, first prime with a self-etching primer or epoxy primer before top-coating. For best results, use when can is between 70 and 90 degrees F. This engine-compartment paint may be used over bare metal, self-etching primer, or Rust Encapsulator.

    Safety

After getting a call from Eastwood re: a prior review and complaint about the poor packaging they did which resulted in all cans having leaked because they throw a couple of air pillows in the box on top of the cans......I decided to give it another try. This time I made 2 orders of $200 + each. Well, they arrived in the same manner...dented, leaking and no protection for the individual cans from each other. I am done ordering from here, I'll go back to using my local supply.

Eastwood must have reformulated this product. The car we did 2 years ago came out great but this paint (water?) has no body and no resistance to chemicals. Don't use if you plan on keeping your car !!!

I've restored quite a few cars experimenting with under hood coatings finished to show like original. Eastwood Black Matte underhood coating has seemed to be the best so far, and definitely going to use on future projects. The product lays out thin, in which gives you a very even finish after a few coats which is extremely helpful in getting no runs or uneven 'blotchy' areas. And when finished looks great, will buy again!
Keep This Away From the underside of your hood!!! (Posted on 6/2/13)

I have been restoring the front end of my 72 K20 down to frame and have purchased many paint products from Eastwood and have been happy. All worked fine except this product. I never write reviews but feel its important to warn people of this product. If you get any sort of overspray or drip of gas, cleaner, brake fluid (of course most things don't have a chance with brake fluid) the paint will just fall off! I have never seen paint literally disintegrate on contact. If I do any work under the hood, I need to cover all the underhood paint to protect it?!?! just do yourself a favor and use engine paint or something that can actually resist harmful chemicals.
