Customer Review: "I'm building a 1969 Yenko Camaro. I have the subframe and arms powder-coated. I used Underhood Black on the engine bay and the underfloor. You cannot tell the difference between the powder coating and the Eastwood paint...amazing results! Looks factory-new now."

    About Underhood Black Quart Semi-Gloss

Underhood Black is the correct shade of black, having just the right 10-20% semigloss finish most car manufacturers used on radiator supports, inner fender walls, lug wrenches, jack bases, underhood brackets, and other parts. Hardware store black paints are either too thick, too glossy, or the wrong color. Just clean, degrease, and prepare the parts well, then spray on for a "factory-like" finish. This acrylic lacquer withstands up to 250 degrees F and goes on thin for a satin smooth finish which does not hide surface details. One quart covers 48 square feet.

    Contents

One Qt coverage: 50 Sq ft, Max temp 250F, Lacquer. To spray, thin 100%-150% with lacquer thinner.

    Accessories

We recommend PRE Painting Prep (10041 Z) to remove residual grease or oil before painting. Use Self-Etching Primer Aerosol (16014 Z) or Qt. (16009 ZP) on clean metal surfaces.

    Warranty

Made in the USA. 30 Day Eastwood Warranty. QUANTITY DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS ITEM

    Application

Use Underhood Black for the correct Satin Black finish found on inner fenders, fire wall, brackets and more, on many cars. Paint may be thinned 100-150% using Toluene or Lacquer thinner. For 100%: use 1 part paint and 1 part thinner. For 150%: use 2 parts paint and 3 parts thinner. Underhood Black produces a 10-20% gloss, and covers approx 50 sq ft. Use these products in a well ventilated area, or wear a respirator like our Pro Respirator (34029).

The new formula is terrible. It does not cover well, it's too thin. You could thin the old formula 100%. You could make 2 quarts from one.
The new one is too thin to start with, and the price is the same. You won't be happy with it.
