About Eastwood Diamond Clear Gloss for Bare Metal

Protect metal parts with a tough, flexible metal clear coating that keeps brass, steel, die-cast, even cast iron, looking great. Also works as an aluminum clear coat. Self-leveling formula resists chips, cracks, fading and yellowing; may slightly dull reflectivity. Resists fuels and temperatures up to 300 degreesF, so is ideal in underhood applications (except exhaust manifolds), as well as for polished wheels, aluminum valve covers, and other bare-metal items around your shop and home. Solvent-based, metal clear coat comes in a 11-oz. aerosol can.
11-oz. aerosol can is enough to cover up to 6-8 sq. ft.
Before spraying-on this metal clear coating, make sure that the bare metal surface is grease- and oil-free by using PRE Painting Prep (10041Z) first.

I buffed out some brass plumbing fixtures, and cleaned it with Pre, allowing it to dry for a few days, then put on Diamond Clear. I let it dry a few days, and when I rent to assemble the coating came off in my hands. No adhesion at all. I hate having to to a project, then do it all over again. I have used many of Eastwood products, but this is a total failure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdbqbCV-4nI

I used the aerosol on a new intake manifold. It took half a can to do the job because I applied a heavy coat. It went on smoothly with no globbing issues and dried quickly. It appears as though it will be a durable surface. I don't know about the yellowing yet, I will update later.

I followed all all the application instructions and had big problems with this spray. Instead of spraying mist it kept spraying big droplets mixed with mist. I tried wiping the nozzle every few seconds and it still didn't work right. It cost me more than a few hours of work take the finish off around globules and then come up with a competitors version of the something that worked.

Good quality clear coat. does not go very far so order more than you think you would need. Expensive for the the volume of paint.

I used this on some cast aluminum parts I sandblasted. Was hoping the natural look of the blast look would last. This coating turned yellow while all of the blasted parts I did not coat still look good. All the parts I coated will now be removed from the engine and reblasted - but not recoated with this crap. The yellowed parts include the TPI plenum, runners, and intake.
