About Eastwood Diamond Clear Gloss for Bare Metal

Protect metal parts with a tough, flexible metal clear coating that keeps brass, steel, die-cast, even cast iron, looking great. Also works as an aluminum clear coat. Self-leveling formula resists chips, cracks, fading and yellowing; may slightly dull reflectivity. Resists fuels and temperatures up to 300 degreesF, so is ideal in underhood applications (except exhaust manifolds), as well as for polished wheels, aluminum valve covers, and other bare-metal items around your shop and home. Solvent-based, metal clear coat comes in a 11-oz. aerosol can.

    Contents

11-oz. aerosol can is enough to cover up to 6-8 sq. ft.

    Accesssories

Before spraying-on this metal clear coating, make sure that the bare metal surface is grease- and oil-free by using PRE Painting Prep (10041Z) first.

Not a good product for polished aluminum. Was wanting a glossy finish, but turned to more of a satin finish. The spray can could be of better quality. It spit and sputtered. Not a good finish.
Not for highly polished metal. (Posted on 1/30/2014)

I feel that the those who are having problems, are not using it right,I build snowmobile suspensions, and use it on the railsand other small parts with decent results,I belive you need the aluminum to slightly oxidize some after polishing, then you can get the results you are looking for.

This clearcoat finish is much more effective than any over-the-counter products that I have tried. It dries very hard, and is excellent at resisting yellowing and staining. More expensive but worth it if you want the finish to last.

I will be ordering a couple of aerosol cans of the Diamond Clear, and saw some of the reviews.... Six years ago I detailed many parts to the '85 Alfa Spider I had just purchased. The aluminum plenum was bead-blasted and then coated per directions with the Diamond Clear. To this day it has not deteriorated, nor has the aluminum oxidized underneath as I've experienced w/powder coats. The only drawback was it changed the light, bead blasted "color" to a slightly darker one. The DOHC valve cover was polished and buffed by hand, and I did not spray it, not wanting to lose the natural depth of shine. But, it does oxidize and you have to keep buffing it. So I want to try the Diamond Clear on a polished/buffed t'stat housing on another vehicle. Will write another review w/photos on that result.

repair and polish automotive trim, stainless and aluminum. I use the Diamond Clear Gloss on the aluminum trim, I've done several pieces and have been very pleased with the results. I strip the anodizing, repair and polish the trim, clean with wax and grease remover, tack and spray following the directions, when dry it looks close to the original anodized finish.Very pleased with the product..

Prepped polished part as per instructions. Disappointed in finish after spraying. Was a satin finish. Disappointed because not able to protect a polished surface the way I wanted. I was using the spray on aluminum valve covers.

I buffed out some brass plumbing fixtures, and cleaned it with Pre, allowing it to dry for a few days, then put on Diamond Clear. I let it dry a few days, and when I rent to assemble the coating came off in my hands. No adhesion at all. I hate having to to a project, then do it all over again. I have used many of Eastwood products, but this is a total failure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdbqbCV-4nI

this stuff is great, I purchased a new gas tank for my 68 RS/SS Camaro and wanted to keep the nature zink finish but didn`t want to paint it a color. This product was exactly what I was looking for, left me a great finish and protection without losing the natural finish of my gas tank.
