About Eastwood Tank Tone Metallic Coating

This is not ordinary silver gas tank paint! This epoxy fuel-tank paint actually contains zinc to protect your gas tank from rust. Since many gas tanks came from the factory with a similar coating, spraying-on a fuel-tank paint is a natural part of your gas-tank restoration project.

For best results, remove all paint and undercoating from the tank before spraying this gas-tank paint. Works well over minor surface rust and helps stop its spread, to make your undercarriage detailing truly the best. Two cans are recommended for complete coverage on the average tank. No primer needed. Maximum temperature 300 degreesF.

Due to regulations pertaining to paint recycling, at this time we are unable to ship this product to Alberta, Canada.

    Contents

I have used the product on two tanks and they both came out great. I like the bright look and the "Zink" protection. Consider using the product on the back side of newly chromed bumpers as they are normally left with a raw metal that will rust if not treated. Tank Tone looks great and will keep the inside of bumpers from rusting over time. I had four cans that all sprayed perfect, even after being on the shelf for a while.

Right out of the can it began sputtering and spitting . No matter how well I shook it and how many times I tipped it over to clear nozzle. I had more paint running down my fingers than anything. I have a whole shelf of eastwood spray paints that quit working or spit and sputter. In the past i sent them back or got new ones. why does this problem CONTINUE? NEVER AGAIN

Paint works well if the prep is done correctly. Make sure grease, oil, etc. is cleaned from the surface. Done three tanks, first was a learning experience, 2nd and 3rd turned out well.

Good color and coverage but was very surprised to find a two months after applying it to a gas tank that the paint easily dissolved by gasoline. So much so that the gasoline washed off the paint as gasoline ran down the side of the gas tank. Was expecting at least a gasoline resistant (maybe swells but is not soluble in) paint. Wow.

Final results were satisfactory. Spray nozzle spits all over, big problem. Don't spray over piece, drips on parts. After 2nd coat, appearance was alright.

The nozzle sputters and drips, I bought two cans, and both have the same problems. The paint looks like cheap chrome. I,m going to strip it and start over.

    Great product and service
I bought Tank Tone Metallic Coating and used it to paint my gas tank but liked the look of it so much I used it to paint my old steel chevrolet valve covers that Im using on a vintage sprint car motor. I didnt have aluminum covers but wanted the look of the old aluminum covers and Tank Tone achieved the look. Thank you

Based on the dealer info, i bought 2 cans. One can was plenty for two very nice coats. the paint coves well and looks great. I would wait for a shipping deal, tho. $10 to ship 2 cans of spray paint is a bit much.

Nice product. Good coverage, no primer needed. $10 to ship two cans of spray paint is ridiculous.
