This DVD will take the intimidation out of MIG welding! MIG welding is widely used for car and motorcycle building and modification, but few people really understand how each of the variables affects the finished weld. This program can be easily understood by a beginner, but it covers information even seasoned professionals can benefit from.

Disappointing, too much of an ad for Miller welders (Posted on 2/25/11)

I really expected more from this video. Perhaps half of the time is useful, the rest is more advertising for different Miller welding units than anything else. That's really not why I got the video. Too little time is really spent on how to weld, how to get welder settings right, and the details of how best to do different welding jobs. Perhaps 5 minutes or less were spent on how to detect wrong voltage and wire feed speeds - something that the DVD medium with sound and visuals is ideally suited for ?
For something with so much Miller product placement, the video could have been cheaper in my opinion - or go the other way and beef up the instructive content. The way it came out, it's very middle of the road. I wish it wasn't.
It's clear that Covell is very capable as an instructor, he's clear and gets his point across. I sense that the video could have been much more useful had he had more leeway to use the time in ways other than showing off Miller product.
