Used this in areas of heavy rust; the spray pattern was great nice and wide. Did a good job turning rust. In lighter areas where I could sand the rust it was not as effectively. However I always follow up with the rust encapsolater to address all rust.

If your down-right lazy or don't want to be to meticulous on a project then you will like this encapsulator. Just wire brush, spray, wait a day or 2 and paint it the color you want. Pretty easy

As another person noted, this product doesn't dry very well on anything other than a rusty surface. I sprayed it on the under carriage of a truck that had spots of rust on a painted surface. The rust converter that was on the paint never dried. Also don't use this product when rain is expected within 24 hours of application. I did and the results were unsatisfactory.

I used the Rust Converter on a severely rusted trailer hitch and it worked perfectly. I also used it on a lightly-rusted exhaust pipe off a minibike and it failed miserably; leaving a sticky surface that never hardened. After speaking with an Eastwood rep, it turns out that the Rust Converter only works only works on HEAVILY rusted metal. I guess that a thin layer of surface rust isn't enough to complete the chemical reaction. Also, it turns out that Rust Converter shouldn't be used on metal that will become hot as it will burn off. It would be nice if they provided this information on the website so people don't waste their money on inappropriate products.

Well, these sprays are ok, if the rust is only surface/topical. For that it works pretty well. I was hoping to repair a few difficult to reach spots and coat with Rust Encapsulator. Not so well. The thicker rust, I brushed with a wire brush as advertised and sprayed it down. The edges where the rust was very superficial turned black... as advertised. The heavier rusted areas just got minimally darker. No additional change. I decided it had to be that the rust was just too thick and cut the offensive areas out, or rather stopped at 2 spots as the rust was discovered to be just slightly thicker than the superficial rusty areas.
If your project has difficult to reach areas, where you just cant get to the spot to clear really good, I'm hitting it with Encapsulator. If the spot is a floorboard that I just don't want to mess with, I'll use Rust convertor.
I am very pleased with Eastwood parts and service. I have purchased sprays, paints, chemicals and a welder from them. This is a reputable company and I appreciate they're expertise and selection.

The first coat went on OK, but the second coat is on it's 3rd day and it's still tacky to the touch. I've had a fan blowing on it for the past 36 hours with no appreciable change. I may use acetone to try and remove it and either start all over or find something different to use as a rust inhibitor.
