    Gas issues (Posted on 4/30/2014)
    Review by Henry
So I had the original welder for a couple months, used maybe 20 times and the gas solenoid went and possibly the circuit board, so they sent me a replacement welder. One tac in and boom the solenoid went. Luckily I had a replacement from the last ordeal and put it in, it works but keeps the gas on waaay too long, so it wastes alot of gas. called TS again, they called me back said they'd put in for a new valve but I'v heard nothing yet. I am rather disappointed and will most likely never purchase a welder from them again. When it works it is nice. I haven't used the spool gun yet.

Recently ordered and received the Mig 175, ordering process went very well and items arrived in the time frame that was advertised. Welder and cart were packaged very well and there was no shipping damage which made me very happy since I am on the West coast I was concerned about shipping. The cart took about 20 min to assemble and since I had already purchased Argon I fired up the welder, welded fantastic right out of the box, used the chart on the inside of the door that got me close and with a little lower voltage welded great, I purchased larger bottle of gas and the welder barely fit on the cart since it was tipped back a little other than that very satisfied. Have not tried the spool gun yet but expect it to work as it should. I had shopped prices for the big three brands but since I only use this for my occasional repair and hobby could not justify the prices, I was able to purchase this mig, the 60 amp plasma and the 200 amp Tig for what one of the big three machines would have cost. could not be happier, don't hesitate to go with this welder.

I am "quasi" retired as an engineer and I currently restore really old cars for museums/collections; I have about a 4 year backlog. I own 2 Lincoln welders, a large TIG 275 and a 15 year old MIG 175SP set up with gas. I bought Eastwood's 175 MIG kit specifically to have it set up permanently with aluminum wire. It is simply cheap and should be clearly labeled as a do-it-yourself quality machine. From the factory the spool gun was wired backwards on my machine, I could NOT get customer service in a timely fashion and had to dig into the machine myself to find and FIX the problem by unsoldering, switching, and re-soldering two control leads. Simply unbelievable. Everything speaks "CHEAP" so loudly that I SERIOUSLY regret having not bought another Lincoln welder. Even the cart is so cheap that it did not even have a handle on it - I made one. My advice to others is that if you expect any reasonable service from your equipment AND the company selling it to you, then do NOT waste your money on this stuff. However, I will continue to use Eastwood for other products as their delivery to me (~80 miles from Pottsville, PA) is usually stellar and I "shop" sales through them.
