About Eastwood Dual Voltage HotCoat Powder Coating Gun

The Dual Voltage HotCoat gun is one of the best powder coating guns on the market today. Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder-coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections.

One 8-oz. bottle of powder (not included) covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy, since you can simply sweep-up the oversprayed powder. Contains no environmentally harmful solvents. HotCoat powder coating requires a 5-10psi compressed air source and dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven).

    FAQs

    (Q) How long does the baking process take?
    (A) For improved flow out (less "orange peel"), bake coated parts at 500 degreesF until powder flows out (about 3-4 minutes for light sheet metal parts), then turn down the heat to 400 degreesF for a full 15 minutes.

    (Q) How can I improve transfer efficiency?
    (A) The 10128 HotCoat High-Performance Deflector greatly improves transfer efficiency. Use the Standard Deflector for getting powder in recessed areas.

    (Q) What are the electrical requirements?
    (A) This HotCoat Gun requires 105-125VAC, 2 amps at 50-60 Hz. Can be used with a voltage transformer such as 220-230VAC to 105-125VAC as long as the transformer can handle 2 amps.

    Safety

Use a disposable dust mask when handling or applying powder. Powder, like common flour, can be explosive when suspended in the air in high concentrations. To minimize any explosion risk, sweep up—do not vacuum—powder from the floor. Cure powder in a well-ventilated area. The urethane powders we sell liberate a very minute amount of isocyanates when the powder flows out. This usually occurs about 3-5 minutes after the part is placed in the oven to bake. Wear a respirator with fresh filter cartridges when curing or inspecting flow-out progress.

Really not happy that Eastwood decided to drop the indicator LED that the old units had. I just shocked teh bejeezus outta myself trying to troubleshoot a unit I thought was DOA, but wasn't. I really would have paid the extra 10 cents to avoid that experience...

I ordered this system for use at work. The power coating system works as intended and although I have only coated a few parts, they have all come out great. Be sure to let the parts fully cool before handling.

I ordered this gun to complete a project for a customer. It took three weeks to arrive(Canada). It came without the diffuser on the end of the gun. I talked to support and they said they would mail the part out the next day. When I asked if it could be rushed to me so I could complete the project soon for my customer the reply was 'we will send it regular post, it shouldn't take too long'. Not too happy here with the service and I haven't even tried the item out yet.

I have used this gun several times and found it to perform as advertised. The first gun I received was faulty, but as Eastwood always does, they replaced it immediately with no problem

I was very impressed with this gun right off the bat. It's application was smooth and consistant, powder attaching itself much more readily than my first gun which I've owned since around 1991.My only complaint is the chinciness of the ground clamp which fell apart during my first session with the gun. I have since installed the ground clamp from my previous eastwood gun and am off and running again. In closing I would recommend this gun to anyone wanting an affordable powdercoating system. P.S. I'm actually saving on wasted powder with this gun because less powder ends up on my catch paper than with the old gun.
