About Eastwood Dual Voltage Powder Gun Starter Kit

Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder-coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections.

One 8-oz. bottle of powder covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy, since you can simply sweep-up the over-sprayed powder. Contains no environmentally harmful solvents. HotCoat Powder Coating System requires a 5-10psi compressed air source and dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven).

Use a disposable dust mask when handling or applying powder. Powder, like common flour, can be explosive when suspended in the air in high concentrations. To minimize any explosion risk, sweep up—do not vacuum—powder from the floor. Cure powder in a well-ventilated area. The urethane powders we sell liberate a very minute amount of isocyanates when the powder flows out. This usually occurs about 3-5 minutes after the part is placed in the oven to bake. Wear a respirator with fresh cartridges when curing or inspecting flow-out progress.

    1-year mfr's. warranty against defects.

Designed, engineered and tested to Eastwood's specifications.

    Final product imported.

Great gun for the price. (Posted on 8/5/2014)
    Review by Jyuma
My first powder coat gun was a cheap HF model. It guess you could say it worked… if by worked you mean you actually intended to powder coat your spray booth instead of the part. I saw a YouTube video of a guy using the Eastwood dual voltage setup and when I saw it was on sale I figured I'd give it a try and I'm very glad I did. What a pleasure it is to use a gun that actually lays the powder where you want it. Very easy to use with no puffing like with the HF gun. The dual voltage didn't appear to me to make any difference but that may have been due to the fact that the part I was powder coating didn't have any areas prone to the Faraday Effect. Overall a great gun for the price and the extras that came with it were just the icing on the cake. I also love the way the Eastwood powder comes in plastic containers that screw right onto the gun. I would highly recommend this gun to anyone just starting out or even experienced powder coaters looking for an extra knock around gun, but don’t knock too hard… it’s a wee bit fragile.
    Great Gun (Posted on 6/15/2014)
    Review by Larry
We bought the original gun about a year age which work good. Decided to buy the Dual Voltage to help with top coats sure makes the job easier with a much better coverage. Used it for both the clear over the smoke chrome and translucent Blue over chrome with excellent results.
Works really well if you follow this. (Posted on 3/3/2014)

I bought this kit for my buggy project.
I tryed it recently, and adjusted the gun to the exacts specs, (10 psi max and about 5 cfm) if you stick to about 5 CFM you notice that the powder goes in very little cracks (as a can would do) and very low powder loss. and the result is amasingly tought.
No more rattle cans! (Posted on 10/25/2013)
    Review by K-Cat
I was tired of painting my “hard work” with a rattle can. I would even buy the “professional” quality spray cans, but after a while, it just wouldn’t hold up. I needed something that would hold up better. The brackets I have fabricated, truck parts, motorcycle parts, turbo compressor housing, & restoration jobs needed something more professional and durable. This gun (kit) was the next step for me. It is okay quality at a cheap price. I am very pleased with it (I didn’t expect a pro-level system). The gun is a little fragile so you have to treat it nice. With a small amount of patience, it will turn out top-notch results! Yes it’s worth it.
Dual voltage not worth the extra money (Posted on 8/20/2013)
    Review by Michael
I have been coating for some time using a Harbor Freight purchased system, I was not satisfied with the capability of coating crevices and recessed areas. So I purchased the Eastwood dual voltage system for the higher voltage setting to assist with this issue.

After using the new kit I found that the higher setting did not provide any noticeable benefit over the lower setting. The coating system performed just as well as the Harbor Freight system, but at more than double the price. I feel as if the purchase was not worth the money and I would have been better off continuing the use of my Harbor Freight system or purchasing a higher end system.

If your looking to get a powder coating system stick to the single voltage system offered by Eastwood (which my brother has and likes) here or purchase the coating system from Harbor Freight.

Also the ground strap leaves a lot to be desired. I would recommend replacing it.
ok but not what I expected based on reviews (Posted on 8/6/2013)
    Review by Roger
I purchased the dual voltage powder coat gun to powder coat aluminum auto parts. It works ok but I ended up spraying more powder in my small booth than on the part to get it covered evenly. Now I per-heat my parts and I get a much better result - mainly because the powder sticks to parts with or without the electrostatic charge when they are hot.
Gun works great (Posted on 7/30/2013)
    Review by Josh
The gun works good, just wish the powder adheared better. I feel like 1/4 of the bottle ended up on the floor, no matter what wetting I had it on. So far the biggest thing I did was a gas tank and it came out perfect!
Good DIY Kit for the Price!! (Posted on 6/20/2013)
    Review by Mark
I've had a chance to use this several times now & I must say that it works very well!!

The results are great & it's so easy to do!! I'll continue to use it for my current project as well as when I have the time & resources to finish up my long-term project!

As for the gun itself, it would be nice to see more of a metal outer structure to it, but as long as you treat it with care & store it in a secure spot, there shouldn't be a problem with it.

Overall, it's a value-priced powder-coating system that can give you great results if you follow the instructions & coat in a clean work environment.
Very good start up tool (Posted on 5/8/2013)

I was very pleased with this equipment, it was easy to set up and start using. My first powder coating experince was a good one.
I would like for the dual voltage switch to be lighted.
