I am a rookie welder and have been using a very seasoned Linde MIG welder on my '59 Chevy truck project. Amazing what late model MIG technology can produce for the price. Could not justify spending 2 to 3 times the cost to buy a brand name welder so, after reading the reviews, decided on the 175. Would recommend to anyone. The only issue I have had with the unit is that the door comes off the hinges every time I open it. Called Eastwood's customer support and they immediately emailed me back and even called me. A new set of hinges is being Fed Ex'd to me now.
Sheilding gas connection (Posted on 3/29/13)

I just recieved my welder yesterday. Amazed at how fast I got it btw. My immediate problem I'm having before even using it for the first ime is hooking up the sheilding gas. I have it on a MIG cart and I have the big bottle of gas that extends over the top of the welder. The gas inlet is directly in the center and towards the top of the machine. There is only about an inch of clearance between tth two. Found a 90 degree brass plumbing fititing but was told by a friend that works at a welding supply (BOC) that it's not compatible. So I ordered on from them for another $16.00 and they don't know when I'll get it. For now I guess I'll just set the bottle next to the unit so I can play with it. My previous welder had ia nipple with a plastic hose and clamp near the bottom amd on the left. You guys got a solution to this?

I have shopped for quite some time for a new welder and have reviewed many name brand units but none gave this much value for the money. I have purchased two cheap aftermarket welders that would weld but produced low quality welds that required much grinding and cleanup. Glad I finally found the Eastwood mig and now I can finish welding my street rod with nice welds that will require much less cleanup. I received much more for my dollar than I expected. Now I also will buy other Eastwood products since I know they sell quality.

Got my Eastwood Mig 175 three days ago and have used it for over 4 hours. Still new, but I can give an early rating, Outstanding in all areas. I'm presently half way through a 4 month Mig Welding (GMAW) course at a near by Community College which has some of the best, high dollar, equipment with both Lincoln and Miller welders costing $2000.00 plus. I'm so impressed with the Eastwood 175 that I would stack it up against the welders at the college. The set-up is easy, the directions are easy to follow, the cables and cabinet are good quality and the controls are easy to use and suggested setting are a good starting point. A lot of settings are also a condition of the person's speed laying down the bead. I haven't used the Spool gun, but if it is anything like the mig unit then I'll be just as impressed. The price for the Eastwood Mig 175 with Spool Gun is half what the major welding companies charge for the same welder with spool gun and as far as I'm concerned you get the same quality or better and just as good service with a 3 year warranty. You can't go wrong. I highly recommend the Eastwood 175 with spool gun.

The welder works great and is good value though I had a cooling fan issue about 8 months into my warranty. I called to get a new cooling fan which I was told would be sent, 2 months later no fan and I can't use my welder. I call again and finally they agree to replace it, I ship it out, here I am 3 weeks later and 3 phone calls and it still isn't on its way. 6 months ago I told people to buy Eastwood. Today I say buy a Lincoln.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Miller Mig unit ($1200.00), and decided why not try the Eastwood Mig. It has a 30 day no hassle return policy. To my surprise this Mig 175 can weld as good as the competition. Took me about 10 min to get it going, and man this rig is an excellent welder. Lots of voltage for what I need. I had a small issue with a item in shipping, and customer service went over and above to make it right. Give it a try and you will be impressed. I WAS!!!!!!
