Ok I gave a good review earlier but that was before the problems. Blown gas hose, bad regulator could happen to anyone. Then the machine would not stitch web on 18 gauge without blowing a hole through it. I was told it was the micro switch in the torch and they rushed a new torch to me. Installed the torch and it seemed to work fine on 3/16 metal. However it will not stitch weld 22 gauge metal without blowing a hole through it. Amperage is set at A the lowest level and I have tried numerous different wire speeds with no solution. It worked great doing this up until Dec. It is like I can't turn the amperage down as if the controls are stuck at a high amperage. I am totally frustrated with this machine, ready to go to Craigslist with it. Should have spent the extra cash on a name brand. :(

This welder works as advertised; maybe better. I have welded 1/4" aluminum with great penetration. Voltage & speed controls that are infinitely variable are important features. I did have an issue with the spool gun; the drive ran backwards, that is the reason it did not get all 5 stars. A phone call to tech support gave me the option to replace the unit or fix it myself with there help. It was an easy fix and when I opened the case I was very impressed at how well this was put together. I wish it were made in the US but they would never be able to sell it at this price if it was.

I purchased this unit on Ebay thru Eastwood because of the Holiday Deal and after setting it up and getting my gas bottles I must say this welder is GREAT!. I had a 90amp mig welder that Ive used for small projects and decided to get rid if it and get into the bigger stuff. Over the weekend I fabricated a dry-sweep roller stand using the 175 and didn't once blow thru the 14ga steel of the frame or the 20ga steel of the wheels!!!. This welder made some nice spot welds that I haven't been able to do with my previous welder. I am very happy with my purchase and don't think a $1500.00 Miller 211 could've done a better job. So for those that are interested in working in your garage and need a mig that can handle anything you have in it, this Welder is for YOU!!!!!!

Let me start by saying I don't know how to Mig weld, plenty of stick but no mig. Got the welder set up finally turned on the gas and "boom" I blew the hose from the bottle to the welder, bad crimp job on hose. Called Eastwood and they immediately replace the hose. Then I noticed the gauge for the line from the bottle to the unit always said the same thing pressure never changed. Called Eastwood and they immediately replaced the complete regulator set. Then as I was using the unit the decal on front with the wire speed and heat ranges on it started to peel off the unit. Called Eastwood and a new one is on the way.
However I am very pleased with the unit and how it runs, I'm loving it. If it wasn't for these 3 minor issues they would have got 5 stars on quality. Wish I had bought my plasma cutter from them instead of HF.

I've been using Mig for probably 20-years, and thought I could lay decent welds. When I blew-up my old Mig, I bought this MIG175 and immediately realized I haven't been all-that for the past 2-decades. This thing is awesome, lays good clean beads, does exactly what you'd expect. I have been welding 1/8"-plate in-between 18ga-sheet, adjustments are simple and quick, and I don't blow-through 18ga anywhere-near like I used to with my old setup. This is one of the best tools in my garage now.

I had a chance to use it, for aluminum, still learning the fine tuning of it. The machine is well made, the video did not match the unit, it would help if they give a little more instruction on aluminum welding in video, the spool gun works good, but would even be better if you could just change the wire spool to regular weld without having to change the the whole tube, the driver doesn't have enough roller strength to propell the mig wire sufficiently, but overall I am happy with the purchase, a nice outfit, I would reccomend it.

This is a follow up to my last review titled "All Fluff" I am pleased to tell you that Eastwood has stood behind there word and has replaced my MiG 175 with Spool Gun. I must admit I haven't had an chance to use this new unit, being that I am busy with hunters at this time. It took a little effort on my part and some patients but Eastwood stood by there guarantee and made it rite. Thank you Eastwood. I look forward to doing more business with your company. ~Steele~

First of all let me say, it is nice having a outlet such as Eastwood where you can pretty much do a one stop shop for about anything automotive. A little about me so you know this review is real. I am a professional guide on the west side of Kodiak island AK, I grew up on the east coast either behind the wheel of a hot rod or blasting the back roads on a motorcickel. Rusteration was my job so I am no dummy with it comes down to building and tinkering on things. Being remoter you have to do all your own repairs, I thought I did my home work comparing Mig welders. I need something that will weld aluminum, all my boats are aluminum. OK down to the nuts and bolts.. I chose the Eastwood 175 MIG with spool gun welder because of it's over all offering. I didn't want to pay a big price for a welder that would be setting around most of the time, but I need something that will work when it needs to work. Out of the box Argon wouldn't shut off on my Eastwood Mig 175. I tried everything no luck. I had to weld so burned up a $500. bottle of argon with just 3 spools of wire and still didn't get the job done so bolted the project together. Eastwood sent me a new gas solenoid, after several months I had time to swap it out so I could finish my boat project. No luck, same issue gas won't shut off. So after several emails, ( because i have no phone) I get word from one of my customers in seattle WA that was shipping some freight up to me that I have a package from eastwood at the freight company? Seems Eastwood so kindly send me a new stiinger/toarch for my welder. Even though it is the spool gun I am using. I had to have the welder drop shipped to Seattle WA back when I bought it because Eastwood wouldn't ship to Alaska? Ok I get the stinger even though I need a spool gun, I make it to a phone and can't get anyone to talk to me, so have to go back to email. Once I get someone to respond they say they can't ship to my po box because I had the welder shipped to Seattle?? Ok what ever send me a new spool gun. Ok, So the spool gun goes to Seattle, I have my customer/friend pick it up and mail it to me. WEE-HAWW I am all excited finally get to finish my boat project. All dressed up, so excited to finally finish this project. WTF!!! Same thing, gas won't shut off when finger isn't on the trigger. I have been asking eastwood via email for a wiring schematic for this MIG 175 so I can trouble shoot it, for over 6 months now with no response. I have been emailing Eastwood, customer service, tech help and the President for a month with no response.. WTF. This is why I titled this All Fluff! seems Eastwood will be all fluffy and nice at first, then throw you a bone to get you to go away, but when it comes down to standing behind there product when you have a real issue. They are no where to be found.. I think this Mig can do the job? I rate this Eastwood MIG 175 with spool gun at 1 star for quality, price and Value because it's worth nothing when it don't work!! Spend the $ and buy a real welder. I will let you know if Eastwood comes around and helps me resolve this issue. Sounds like you were Lucky Doug. Stay tuned in for my review up date. ~Steele~

I purchesed the Eastwood MIG Welder 175 Amp in December 2012 and decided to put some miles on it before giving a reveiw. After running 33+ lbs of wire through it in 10 months I am completly satisfied with it. The wire speed and heat controls are sensitive and work excellent. Also the 30% Duty Cycle has not shut down once.
