I recently purchased the mig 175 from EW. and found this welder everything they claim it to be. Weather you are welding vertical, horizonal, downhand or overhead this is a great little welder, It took a few adjustments to get the feel for this unit in out of position welding. I also like the fine tuning you can get which some of the other name brands do not have. Working in the industrail field for 41 years fabraciating food processing equipment this little unit is the easiest to use of all the little welders that are portable. The only thing I would like EW to design is a cover to keep the dust and grime off the unit when not in use.Price Value Quality -

I have owned a Hobart 175 for over 15 years and was looking to upgrade it and add a spool gun. The cost for this turned out to be $750! Saw the Eastwood unit on sale and reads all the great reviews and decided to try this machine out. First unit came in badly damaged in shipment. Called Eastwood and their customer service was very courteous and helpful. They sent out a replacement right away and had the damaged unit picked up the next day. Hooked up the welder and ran a few beads with both the steel and aluminum and WOW! This is one GREAT machine! This thing lays down a bead better than my Hobart ever did, and I loved it! I have been building cars for over 30 years and look forward to using this machine for many more builds! Now I can even build custom piping, radiator shrouds and oveflow tanks out of aluminum! Thanks to Eastwood, they always seem to come out with something fantastic!Value Quality Price -

Welder works great. I had never welded aluminum before but within a few min I was able to get some not bad looking welds. I had one part (gas shield) fell apart right away but when I notified customer service they agreed to send me a new one right away no questions asked. This is by far the best deal around.Price Value Quality -

I just purchased this welder back in febuary. I just got around to firing it up. After doing some comparisons, this welder seemed to be the best value for the price. I was right on the money buying this welder. it has all the features of a high end unit and performs exceptional so far. I havent had any problems so far and this machine operates so smooth that it makes it almost seem too easy! I have never had any schooling on welding, but I used to use my dads stick welder when i was younger. I just wish he was still around to try this one out, because this unit would make him look like a professional. I can lay beads with this thing that impressed the shop teacher at the local high school. I say if you want the best value for your money and are looking for a good prchase you wont regret then this is the right one for you!!Price Value Quality -

Forget about Lincoln, miller, Hobart. In this class this welder is very Impressive. I'm a welding student so I've had my hands on every mig in the shop and I am super stoked I bought this Eastwood 175. If your worried about it not being a name brand then you probably have a Gucci man purse. Put on your Prada shoes and jump off the nearest cliff. This welder spanks the other name brands like a dominatrix hooker. You can pry my Eastwood Welder from my cold dead hands.Quality Price Value -

Goodbye Hobart, Miller, Lincoln

I've had the welder for a year now. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke just after it arrived so I'm just now able to submit my opinion. THANK GOD THERE IS A 3 YEAR WARRANTY!! I don't think I'm going to need any warranty service for this unit. I've done production welding for numerous years using company supplied welders, Hobart, Miller, and Lincoln and I can't find any differences at all. Honestly the compactness of this unit is far superior than all of the above. I found NO lag time during extended feeds. The current was consistent even on 20-30 second beads. Trigger response was better than expected, even on the spool gun. The current cut out time was almost nil. I recently welded a tooth onto a front end loader bucket, it was 1/2" thick and I had no problem running multiple beads, the penetration was perfect. If you are a beginner I would suggest you purchase the video before you try any welding with it, but the same goes for all welders. My only disappointment was the size of the Argon Gauges that came with the unit. You really do need reading glasses to see the needles. You can buy regular size gauges for about $50.00 at any welding supply place.Quality Price Value
All and all this unit will stand up to the needs of any small business or shop.
Thank you very much for introducing me and others here to this line. All your statements regarding this product are absolutely true!! -

I bought a welder from a local tool store chain and had it shipped to that store (saved on shipping) and before it came in I found these reviews on this EW 175. So when the welder came in, without even looking at the welder, told them I didn't want it. I was charged a 15% re-stocking fee which I decided to do it anyway. I really want this EW welder. So I haven't got it yet but will be ordering soon and I hope it lives up to the hype because it cost me an extra $50 to get it. Wish me luck......Price Value Quality -

This is by far the best portable welder I used, I been welding with a Lincoln 180HD, don't get me wrong is a good welder, but this MIG 175 performs as good or better in my opinion, I'm using CO2-Argon mix, followed the setting instructions and the result was a perfect weld !!Price Value Quality
The only thing better than the welder is the affordable price.
