About Eastwood Thermo-Coustic Sound Deadener Material

Eastwood’s Thermo-Coustic Insulation is perfect to highly reduce road noise and engine heat to make your ride more comfortable! The Thermo-Coustic Barrier conforms easily to interior and door panels, with a hi-tack adhesive that lets you install them securely. Each of the 9 sheets are crafted with a .060"-thick layer of sound-deadening butyl rubber material, bonded to a high-performance, heat-reducing aluminum facing, for an overall thickness of 0.063".

Along with a significant reduction in road noise and driveline vibration, these Thermo-Coustic Barrier sheets help keep heat from penetrating your vehicle’s interior. Tests showed performance equivalent to that of the more-expensive major brand, so why pay more? Compare the performance and price to Dynamat liners and see for yourself.

Kit includes 33.75 sq. ft. of material, enough to insulate the most critical portions of your car’s interior and door panels. For more complete coverage, order two kits (particularly if you've removed the factory sound-deadening material during restoration). Imported.

I was nervous when I saw some horror stories about this product melting/dripping. So I bought some for a project car and did some testing before installation. I rolled the dice knowing Eastwood would take it back if I was unhappy. I put a few pieces on several pieces of sheetmetal. I then exposed the pieces to 120 degrees of heat for an extended period of time (12 hours). The product didn't move, drip, detach,...... nothing. I then took a torch to it and it stood fast at 180 degrees. I never saw it drip, it eventually caught fire when I burned it with the torch for quite a while. So as long as you don't try to put it directly onto your exhaust system (why would anyone even think of this?), it performs great. This open forum of review can be abused. Has the formulation been changed or are there reviews in here from some guys that sell the same product at twice the price with a vested interest in "bashing" this product? Here's a great approach: don't take my word for it either. Try some yourself and give it a test. Great product.

Absolutely unbelievable!! I have been using Eastwood products for almost 20 years and have had excellent results with quality and value. However this stuff is a F*&%en nightmare! I see "AL" s review and he is correct. I installed this in the summer in a garage that gets no more than 90 deg. It is now fall and always under 80-deg in the garage. This stuff is slipping dripping oozing all over the floor and car. It drips from every nook and cranny creating a horrible mess. I have ruined clothing and shoes. Removing it now would be like removing gum form ones hair. Trust me on this...I have restored plenty of cars..just stay away you will regret it!!. Eastwood did give a refund but the horrible mess is unacceptable. I can't express it enough!!! Taping over the seams and edges with the foil backed roofing tape from the home improvement stores helps somewhat. Our company will be at SEMA and I plan on discussing this with Eastwood at that time. I see some good reviews not sure how that can be unless there were some bad batches or lots sold.

So I am running basically a straight exhaust with an x pipe on my 04 mustang GT. It is extremely loud especially on the highway! So far I have only out this in my trunk but it has greatly reduced the noise! Its awesome stuff for the price! Plan on doing the front half of the car eventually. Definitely would reccomend!

The Eastwood Thermo-Coustic Sound Deadener Material is an excellent product. I purchased a box of it for my 69 Camaro and it was enough to do the floor of my interior.
The product is easy to work with and it did an excellent job as a heat barrier and a sound deadener. Installation was very easy and the product cuts easily with a razor knife or heavy duty shop shears.

When installing you should use a roller to flatten out the wrinkles and improve the adhesion. I used a wide caster (pack of 2 mattress frame casters at Home Depot for around $5) and rolled it over the material, it worked great!
It took about 4 hours to install in my Camaro as I took my time and laid out the material to make the fewest cuts. I'm going to purchase more for the doors and maybe the trunk.

Im doing a complete resto on my 1967 Buick GS and I was considering useing a sound deading product but not sure what brand to go with. I get the email about this Thermo-Coustic Sound Deadener Material, after review of the video I decided to purchase it.. PaintWorks Unlimted in Dover NH who only specializes in auto restoration the shop who was doing the work on my car did the install and to there credit of excellent fine work they are very particular on any products .. Sean the owner at the shop notified me that the product was excellent on its ease of install and malleability more than the big brand name out. Totally so impressed with the product he will start using this foil in his shop exclusively for now on..

I bought 4 boxes of this stuff on sale with free shipping about a year ago. I recently installed over a box of it under the top and on the firewall/cowl of my 67 GTO HT body when it was upside down on a rotisserie. The body is now on the frame and the material is melting/dripping/running/falling while the car is sitting in my shop, creating a sticky, gooey mess. We are having record high temperatures but the bare body in my shop isn't near as hot as the closed interior will get when in the sun or the firewall will get when the engine is running. It will be way too much work to remove the crap mechanically since adhesion is not the problem and some is under framework. No large pieces have fallen but a small piece under the cowl that did fall left behind a sticky layer of goo on the metal. What do I do now? I emailed Eastwood tech support and called/left a message but got no response. All I can think of is to try to seal the edges of the sheets with something like Flex Seal that will cure and hopefully keep the goo and aluminum film from dripping/floating off when the goo gets hot and liquefies. The picture is of a small scrap piece laying on a horizontal surface in my shop showing how the film just floats off. At this point I have spent almost $500 for a product that unsuitable for its intended use and the company won't even communicate with me about the issue. All I know is that I have a mess to clean up and won't be installing new carpet/headliner or instruments until something is done.

DO NOT BUY this product!! I can not stress enough how disappointed I am with this product. After 3 weeks of sitting in the garage I went out today to work on my project car. I found pools of tar all over the inside where edges of material where. I found the side had fallen down and left drips all down the sides. I moved the car outside to get a better look and found little pools of tar under the car everywhere. DO NOT Buy this product if you live in a warm climate. It has been in the 90's here for the last two weeks but my garage is shaded and has been in the 80's. I am so glad this happen before I had put the carpet in the car. Now I think I am going to remove all the material and start over. I just wasted a day and $149. DO NOT Buy, I can not stress this enough. Bad product. The pictures are worth a million words, so I will let them do the talking.

Great product! Went on very easily, and the adhesive is very strong, and holds perfectly. Haven't been able to test drive my car yet with it installed, but the looks and feel of the product I think the results will be worth every penny.
