Details

If you project vehicle is pre-1989, ZDDP Oil Additive is a must for keeping that engine running smoothly If your engine was designed before 1989, the camshaft's non-roller lifters require ZDDP in the motor oil to prevent premature deterioration. However, the U.S. government recommended that ZDDP no longer be put into domestic motor oils starting in 1989, so today's motor oils won't provide the ZDDP your older engine needs...unless you add this ZDDP Oil Additive!
  • ZDDP alters bearing and journal surface characteristics to prevent metal-on-metal contact
  • ZDDP reduces the tendency of parts to scuff or gall under heavy loads
  • Add a 4-oz. bottle of ZDDP to every 4- or 5-quart oil change

About Eastwood ZDDP Oil Additive 4 oz.

Put this in our 67' karmann ghia stock engine and also in our 66' VW bus with a built 1904cc engine... Unbelievable the difference in how smooth and quiet both engines run.

I own a 2010 Silverado with the 292 V8. It was burning about 1qt. of oil every 1000mi. I added ZDDP to the oil (Mobil 1) at 7000mi. and have not had to add oil since (11000mi.). The engine runs smoother with about 1/2 MPG better.
I would recomend that anyone use this additive to any oil.
I will never change oil without adding ZDDP.

When I found out when the motor oils today didn't have the required zinc as they did back in the day for older engines like the 283 V-8 in my 56 Chevy 210 2dr hdtp. I have notice a better running engine with the use of the ZDDP. I always have some on hand so when I do change oil, I can add it to the Mobil oil I use. I plan on using it in the 77 Corvette I just recently purchased. Very happy with the product.

Who knows if I need this. But I do use it. I just purchased a 1982 Dodge truck and this is a small price to pay compared to engine damage. Who knows if there was ZDDP in the oil over the past 30 years of this truck.

I have a 1965 Mustang Fastback, a 80' 1976 Stardust Cruiser Houseboat and an old RIB tender boat and without ZDDP I would need to start thinking about replacing three engines! This is a must have for early engines or very cheep insurance.
