    About Electroplating System Tin Zinc

This kit solves problems of sending parts out to expensive plating shops, or storing dangerous chemicals by allowing you to conveniently plate almost any metal part at home. This system brings a brilliant luster to properly prepared metal parts with a corrosion-resistant, protective plating resembling chrome but without the expense, hassles or hazards. Electroplating uses electric current to pull small amounts of metal from the positively charged tin-zinc anode bar through electrolyte solution and onto the negatively charged piece to be plated. The anode bar will last through dozens of parts.

    Contents

The Tin-Zinc Plating Kit includes: 2 quarts of electrolyte (plating solution), anode bar, battery holder, funnel, a 100 gram tube of Autosol polish, an electroplating brush, goggles, pair of disposable gloves, and complete instructions.

    Accessories

We recommend PRE Painting Prep (10041 Z) and Rust Remover (16027). Diamond Clear Gloss for Bare Metal (10200Z) be applied after plating for improved durability.

    Safety

Always use the Tin-Zinc Electroplating System in a well ventilated area. The electrolyte solution contains Sulphuric Acid. Wear eye and skin protection. Keep a source of clean water nearby to immediately rinse off any splash.

    Warranty

Made in the USA. 30 Day Eastwood Warranty.

    Application

This kit will plate steel, brass, & copper (no aluminum or die cast). Parts must be thoroughly degreased and derusted before plating. (We recommend PRE Painting Prep (10041 Z) and Oxisolv Rust Remover (16025). A clear coat like Diamond Clear Gloss for Bare Metal (10200Z) will improve durability. The Plating Solution typically has a cloudy appearance, and should in no way inhibit performance. Agitate slightly before plating. Store Electrolyte in it's original chemical container and place in a sealed plastic bag, between 55 & 95 degrees F. Use in well ventilated area. Avoid contact with electrolyte.

This kit worked suprisingly well. It does require some elbow grease to get the parts polished out, but very nice results!

The tin zinc electroplating system, worked very well on the small items that I plated. In the future I will be using a transformer.

It works but is very time consuming. After a small batch of parts, the anode was half gone. I would not buy again.

I finally had a chance to use this kit on my fuel injector clips & I must say that I am very impressed with the results it gave me!! I used E.W.'s Rust Dissolver first to get any leftover rust scale off them, followed by a quick freshwater dip, & into the electrolyte solution for probably 2-2.5 minutes each.

Considering that these clips are over $4.00 each & they come in a finish that doesn't match my polished fuel rails, this kit has already given me much of my value back in a durable finish that actually has a nice luster to it.

I'm also going to go ahead & hit them with some of their Diamond Clear for bare metals as suggested, so that should really keep them looking great for years to come.

Thanks Matt & the rest of the Eastwood crew for yet another great DIY solution!!!!

This is a great little kit. I have already plated about 35 items with it, so it has more than paid for itself.

The plated items have a sort of frosted look to them, but polished up very nicely to a bright polished chrome look. But keep in mind while it might look like chrome, it isn't as hard as chrome.

I replaced the power source (two D batteries) with a plug in wall transformer of approx. the same voltage/amperage. That way I don't have to wory about changing batteries and the voltage stays at a constant level. I recommend doing the same if you use the kit very much.

I have been restoring motorcycles for years, always sending my zinc out to be plated. I still do for large batches of large parts but there are always parts that come back looking bad or I find parts that I forgot to send. In 4 minutes I can plate bolts, nuts, bracket etc., that look as good and sometimes better than the stuff I get back from the professional plater!. I love this product and use it more and more now instead of the professionals! Like any other part coating process, cleaning and prep is the key to a good finish. I get a good finish everytime by simple following the instructions included in the kit.

Tried this product to electroplate 1" x 15" tube steel. Plated about 3/4's of it then quit. I tried additional anode bars and nothing. Now if the anode bars that are sold by Eastwood only plate about 12" of 15" the value there is dismal. Contacted techs, tried what they suggested and still nothing. Very disappointed in this product. Wouldn't recommend it. I don't know why there is so many good reviews. Someone else had to have had problem also.

Plated odd size bolts and nuts that could not be found in stainless steal. The process gave me very good results. The plated bolts look almost as good as the stainless bolts. Very easy but some what time consuming. But the time spent was worth it.

I've restored quite a few (Read: LOTS) of small parts for my 1973 Camaro restoration using this system, and have been extrememly happy with the results. As stated in an earlier review; be prepared to do some polishing to get the parts to the finish you desire---with patience and a little elbow grease you'll get the shine you desire. I used this kit so much, I need to oreder another zinc electrode!
