Good news and bad news (Posted on 5/20/13)

I painted my S10 Blazer in late summer 2011 with the LeMans Blue Single Stage paint and after color sanding, it looked great (photo attached).. But in 2012 it has significant water spotting on the hood that I had to color sand out. Now in early 2013 the spots are so bad (photo attached), they won't come out. The sides of the vehicle are still good with no spotting. The roof is another story. I didn't color sand out the roof, figuring it would hold up better without the color sanding but now there is absolutely no lustre in the roof color - it looks very weatherbeatin'. As a comparison, I also used the Eastwood Single stage paint, Blvd. Black on the hood of another vehicle at the same time. Same preparation techniques using the Eastwood primer. This other car sits in the same driveway as the S10, gets hit with the same rain and there is absolutely no waterspotting anywhere. The hood on that vehicle looks just like it did 2 years ago after I painted and colorsanded it - you can read the newspaper with the reflected image on it. The LeMans Blue paint in my experience is not as "tough" as the Black.
