Versa-Cut 40 Plasma Cutter easily slices through materials up to 3/8" thick. Our Eastwood-designed plasma cutter is your smartest choice for making clean, fast cuts through steel, stainless or aluminum as thin as 24-gauge, or as thick as 3/8". Compared to mechanical cutting, our Versa-Cut 40 Plasma Cutter works significantly faster, and makes curved and intricate cuts more easily and precisely. Inverter technology offers superior arc stability and plasma cutting power using either 110 or 220 volts, making this a portable unit that is also light weight. About Eastwood Plasma Cutter 40 Amp Versa-Cut

This innovative, affordable, plasma cutter was designed and developed by Eastwood's own R&D staff, and tested in-house on the same type of real-life projects you'll use it for. It doesn't matter where you need to work, because this plasma cutter's voltage-sensing technology lets you use either a 110v or 220v outlet with our adapter cord. Works with any standard home- or shop-type air compressor within a range of 20-65 psi; internal moisture separator ensures dry air is delivered to the torch. Rated 140 volts at 40 amps. Duty cycle: 60% at 40 amps. Weighs less than 30 lbs., for easier portability.

What is "Plasma Cutting"? Plasma cutting utilizes a high-velocity jet of ionized gas (plasma) that conducts electricity from the torch of the plasma cutter to your metal workpiece. That directed plasma stream (about 30,000 degrees F) heats the workpiece, converting the metal to molten slag. That high-velocity stream literally blows the molten metal away, leaving clean, precisely cut metal.

Bought tig and plasma together. I am on my 3rd Versa cut plasma cutter. 1st one the connection where hose goes on spun inside of the unit and leaked, didn't cut properly. The 2nd unit cut for about 5 minutes then wouldn't strike an arch. Custom service has always been great and exchanged super easy. Got the third replacement today seems to work well so far. The only grip I have...besides the units not working right, is their tech support always goes to voicemail and takes them a while to get back to you. Hoping third time is the charm.

My first 2 units were dead units, the third unit made about 12 saddle cuts in some 2 7/8, 3/16th wall pipe for fencing and stopped working. The return call from Eastwood stated they could only replace a unit three times and then had to credit me for the unit due to policy. But I could purchase another unit if I wanted. Up till then I was not too upset as Eastwoods costomer service was great. I was will to work this issue out but Eastwood called it quits. I have done business with Eastwood for years, and I am surprised at this policy. Not Happy

I shopped around and chose the versa cut because I needed a plasma cutter and couldn't afford most of the others. I also chose the versa cut because of the warranty and service is here in the U.S. Also consumable parts are easy to find and top brand parts. I am satisfied with the performance based on using it on 115v. Easy to use. Helpful if used on a dedicated circuit with nothing else on it.

Opened the box, looks nice then I assemble it turned it on and plenty of air but no arc. Checked alll connections still nothing but air. Called tech support and got a voicemail left message and they returned the call during my lunch break so I returned their call and voicemail again. Finally got it to work for about 10 minutes and turned it off while doing something else when I tried again nothing but air. Really disgusted! Would not buy again!

I'm very pleased with the Versa-Cut plasma cutter.
I'm an artist. When I first used a plasma cutter, at The Maine College of Art, I found a completely new world of art open up to me. In short order, I knew I had to have a plasma cutter in my studio. When it came time to purchase one I read every review of every plasma cutter that cost up to $1,200. I was prepared to spend about $700 on a cutter. ( My theory is, it's good to read about the more expensive models to know if you need to step up to that level or not. And they often include information about less expensive and less powerful models.)
I work primarily with 1/8" and 3/16" steel. I basically use the plasma cutter to etch and cut through steel. I needed a plasma cutter that would be able to cut rather quickly and fluidly. I am so pleased to say that the Versa-Cut is wonderful in that regard. I first opened it and used it with 110 VAC. It cut thin stuff really well, but even 1/8" took some patience. Oh, it would cut it, but not cleanly, nor in one pass. I didn't have 220VAC in my garage yet, so I took it to a friend's house and tried it out, enough to know, YES! This is a great machine. It moved through 3/16" easy, even 1/4". I have since put 220VAC to my garage and am cutting like a mad man.
Why did I decide on an Eastwood Versa-Cut, especially since it wasn't one of the ones I initially looked at. I'm not certain if I should mention other brands here, so I won't, but after reading reviews, calling dealers, comparing features, price, and warranties, the Eastwood came out in front. One feature that was very important to me was that the plasma cutter have a pilot arc, as I often cut through rusty metal.

I found that the more I looked, the more difficult it came to make a decision on which cutter to purchase. Reviews varied on the lower end models. I'd feel strongly about a model, then read some negative reviews and I'd be back to square one. I finally called dealers around the country about any model I was considering purchasing. They were very helpful in steering me away from several models and companies. A few dealers told me not to purchase the models they'd been dealers for, as they'd had nothing but problems with those models or the companies that made them. (They'd cut their ties with those companies, but the manufacturers websites still showed them as dealers.)
The only 2 draw backs to this amazing machine are: 1) I needed to purchase an air compressor that could deliver 5-7 CFM @85PSI. That turned out to cost about as much as the plasma cutter. I ended up purchasing the Makita MAC5200. It's oil lubricated, relatively quiet, and it works really well with this machine.
    2) I wish the ground cord was as long as the cord for the cutting gun.

Still, I'm happy as can be with this great piece of equipment.

I was very excited to use another Eastwood product. I pulled the cutter out of the box, which was package well. It looked great. There was the nice black finish without any blemishes on it. I first starting cutting some 3/16" to see how well this would operate. On the second the torch started to arc inside the handle and proceeded to melt away in my hand. Didn't get burned. Called Eastwood and their outstanding customer service said they would send another torch. I'm still waiting for that and the it's round two.

I was skeptical not knowing very much about the eastwood brand but I took a chance because of the price. I wasn't disappointed at all the first time I used it and the quality and value continue to impress me. I would compare Eastwood to miller any day of the week extremely good quality I can't say enough good things about this plasma cutter

My first plasma cutter was defective, but Eastwood replaced it with absolutely no hassle. I've had it for 5 months and used it more than I thought I would. This is one impressive little unit. It makes my old cutting torch look dumb. I would definitely recomend this for anyone looking for an affordable plasma cutter.

at first i was skeptic about buy this unit. how could they sell the same item at a fraction of the price. i did my homework and gave this thing a shot. i am amazed and impressed with the cutting abilities of this little big machine. i own a body shop and use this thing almost on a daily basis. theirs nothing this thing can not cut. Cuts down on oxy/acceteleyne torch use tremendously. does not severly warp metal or cause unwanted fires when cutting with traditional torches.keep up the good work eastwood. thanks

I received the cutter, set it up, and started cutting. I only had a 110 volt plug so I used it. I tried cutting 3/16 plate and it had trouble making it though. I put In a 50 amp 220 volt plug.Wow what a difference. it cut the 3/16 like it was butter. It is like cutting with a Laser. This is easy to use. A short learning curve and you are cutting. This is the first Plasma cutter I have used and recommend buy this unit. If you are looking for a plasma cutter go ahead and spend the money for this one. I looked online before I purchased and Eastwood's had the best review. sure you can by a cheaper one but a little extra money and you have a great cutter.
