About Eastwood Plasma Cutter 40 Amp Versa-Cut
This innovative, affordable, plasma cutter was designed and developed by Eastwood's own R&D staff, and tested in-house on the same type of real-life projects you'll use it for. It doesn't matter where you need to work, because this plasma cutter's voltage-sensing technology lets you use either a 110v or 220v outlet with our adapter cord. Works with any standard home- or shop-type air compressor within a range of 20-65 psi; internal moisture separator ensures dry air is delivered to the torch. Rated 140 volts at 40 amps. Duty cycle: 60% at 40 amps. Weighs less than 30 lbs., for easier portability.
What is "Plasma Cutting"? Plasma cutting utilizes a high-velocity jet of ionized gas (plasma) that conducts electricity from the torch of the plasma cutter to your metal workpiece. That directed plasma stream (about 30,000 degrees F) heats the workpiece, converting the metal to molten slag. That high-velocity stream literally blows the molten metal away, leaving a clean, precise cut.
Includes: Versa Cut 40 unit, torch assembly, ground clamp assembly, 110/220V adapter cord. Agreat addition to your Plasma cutter is the Plasma guide 13689.

Decent Cutter

This cutter is a really good cutter for the money. I am using it on a restoration job and have had no problems whatsoever. There is a slight learning curve but not too difficult. I had floor pans removed from my truck in around 15 minutes. I am very pleased with this unit. There are a few "cheap" pieces but for this price there will always be a trade off. Once again, I am very pleased with this unit.Value Quality Price -

I purchased this plasma cutter then read the reviews.I got scared. When I got it I was afraid to use it. I don't know what these people are talking about .This machine is great ,it cuts new metal but what is great it works on rusty old metal like about what every Mustang has. Buy the extended reach tips and go to work. aaa+++Price Value Quality -

When I first got my Versa Cut 40 I was nothing but happy. I made a few cuts and was pleased about its ability to cut and its overall value. That lasted a few days before it stopped working. Like others that have posted here when I called Tech support I would get voice mail every time. I sent an email to the tech department detailing the issues. I finally received a reply one week later asking for more details. The next response came about a week and a half later and they said someone from customer service would contact me and get me a new unit. After over 2 weeks I gave up on that and called customer service myself. I dealt with 2 different people (one nice and the other rude as hell) before I got them to understand that I had been dealing (or trying to deal with) the tech department who said I needed a new unit. The new unit came quickly, to my old address. How they screwed up my address is beyond me and I was lucky I knew and trusted the tenant. Once I had the unit I set it up and made a few cuts before it too died.Quality Price Value
I once again (knowing the drill now) emailed the tech department and waited a week for a response. Sent another email back again detailing the problem and waited over 2 weeks for someone to get back to me. When I sent an email asking how long I should wait I got an “out of office response” from someone other than the person I originally emailed. A quick call to customer service (I got the rude girl again) later confirmed that the employee I emailed was no longer with the company but I still had to deal with the tech department before I could get another replacement.
The product is hit or miss and after reading the reviews I regret spending the money. I have spent many times more hours dealing with replacements than I have using the product because of its surprisingly low quality and reliability. The slow response of the tech department and amazingly rude customer service person is just the icing on the cake. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I teach welding to military veterans and now recommend they buy Lincoln or Miller products and avoid Eastwood electronics all together. Eastwood missed a good opportunity for advertising and exchanged it for a bad reputation among my students.

Pros:Value Quality Price
Cuts well, dual voltage, easy to use.
Cons:
Air connection in back, on opposite side of electric plug. (Makes hooking up air when in a welding cart w/bottle a little annoying)
cheap plastic multi-pin connector, would rather have metal connector shells
The unit worked great, cutting through even some I-beam with no issue... but only for about 5hrs of intermittent usage . Then the "overload" light kicked on and it had to be sent for replacement. It took 6weeks for to get my replacement settled. Now, I appreciate that Christmas holidays are busy, but the only reason I even got my replacement when I did was because I was calling in to check on status every couple of days. Based on the unprofessional, unorganized lack of customer support I think this will be my last purchase from Eastwoods. -

The plasma cutter worked fine right out of the box. With just a little practice I was cutting metal in seconds that was taking 10 to 20 minutes.Value Quality Price -

I purchased the plasma cutter when it was on the holiday sale, hoping for better results than others that have posted here. Unfortunately, it worked great for about one hour of use, then black smoke came from the trigger assembly. After that, it would only light up the inside of the cutting tip. After no return contact from Tech Support for nearly a week, back it went, not wanting an exchange. Customer Service handled this issue well and I will continue to purchase Eastwoods consumable products.Quality Price Value -

I bought this along with the TIG200, haven't used either very much, but they both seem to work fine. I was a little concerned about the post air flow of about 10 seconds, because the cutters I've used to stop as soon as you let go of the trigger, but they ashore me it's normal. When you buy both the TIG and the plasma together, you just can't beet the price.Value Quality Price -

My first unit worked intermittently, seemed to work for a few minutes then wouldn't strike an arc until it had been shut off for an hour or so. Contacted customer service and it was exchanged for a new unit. Second unit arrived. I set it up and the first time I tried to adjust the air pressure the knob broke off in my hand. A quick search revealed that Grainger had a replacement regulator in stock for about $10 so I just replaced it myself. Fired the unit up and about 30 seconds into the first cut there was sparking inside the gun, then a loud pop and lots of black smoke. Currently awaiting a reply from customer service for a new gun.Value Quality Price
