About Eastwood TIG Welder 200 Amp AC/DC

Eastwood TIG200 200AMP welder features an AC/DC switch that allows both steels and aluminum to be welded with the same machine. With a 14' torch and a 10' ground cable, you'll be able to get into any space with this exceptional welding machine. It has pre- and post-flow adjustment knobs to protect your weld and torch. It even has a foot pedal to control amperage so you can get going quickly, without the need to dial-in the machine for a specific material. Powered through a NEMA50 plug.

Automatically switches from 110v to 220v depending on input. Infinitely adjustable foot pedal and amperage control allow accurate aluminum welding, and adjustable pre- and post-gas flow results in proper arc starting, stabilization and bead cool-down. Thumb control overrides the foot pedal for out-of-position welding, or when bench welding is not an option. This exceptional Eastwood TIG Welder is backed by Eastwood's no-hassle 3-year warranty. Try it for 30 days, and if you're not satisfied, simply return it.

Good Customer Service (Posted on 8/25/2011)
    Review by Brad
I had 2 of these and both had problems. The first one broke within the first 30 seconds of using it. Neither the foot pedal or the trigger could get the machine to trigger an arc. But the reason I bought this welder was because of the warranty and reputation that eastwood has and they proved themselves right. They took care of it very quickly and in less than a week I had a new welder. This welder worked ok for awhile on DC but always immediatly overloaded while on AC and never had as much power as what I expected on DC. I used that welder for awhile and eventually ended up returning that one and they took very good care of me on it. I now have a syncrowave 200 and I can definatly say that you get what you pay for and I appreciate all the qualities and the very informational owners manual. I suggest spending the extra money to make sure you get a quality product.

I use a Miller Tig at work which is an amazing welder and I would have to say the Eastwood tig works every bit as good.
My only disappointment is the day after I received my welder I went to Eastwoods website for some accessories and they were offering the welder at $100.00 less than I paid. But at $849.00 with free shipping it is still a great deal.
Tig 200 Good buy! (Posted on 8/10/2011)
    Review by Rookie Welder
I've had the tig 200 for about a month, only have a few hours time on it. As stated before the manual is only a GUIDE, not an instruction manual on how to tig weld. I've gas and stick welded but mostly mig weld. This tig works great on steel and is very easy to set-up(pretty much look at the chart on the side of the welder). My practice pieces were on some .125 wall square tube and the welds look great (except where the tungsten dipped in). I can't wait to do rocker panels and patch panels with this. Aluminum is much tricker (from what I've been told by numerous experieinced welders), especially if you've never tigged before. With some practice and the correct tungsten I'm positive it is obtainable. It seems some are concerned by the cable ties on the torch head for the thumb control, they make sense to me, keep it simple and compact. I think that Eastwood did a great job with this tig machine. I was on the fence about this for a month or so. I can't afford a new Miller or Lincoln, checked out the Everlast Power Tig 185 (nice unit) and all the used stuff was either 100 years old or so new it was close to the price of it new. I can honestly say I made the right choice. Get a full tank, some scrap pieces to practice on, experiment with some settings and go to town. If you can get it on sale, it only will sweeten the deal.
What a bargain! (Posted on 7/17/2011)

Easy to use (Posted on 7/3/2011)

Huge learning curve but you get used to it.A full tank of argon and you're up and running. the Hand control on this thing is annoying to use.The foot pedal works flawlessly.Your standard Harbor Freight welding helmut will work 40% of the time with this machine the other 60% of the time you'll be blinded by the arc.So upgrade to a digital welding helmut. This machine is not short on power it will burn holes through various gauges of steel at low amps with ease.110volt works great. The only downside to tig is the argon consumption buy a couple tanks or get a huge one.Overall great machine
Good little welder (Posted on 7/1/2011)

When I got the welder, I had problems with the arc wandering. This was solved by replacing the gas regulator. Other than that, the welder works very well for the sheet metal I'm doing, both body patches and gas tank patches. Now if only Eastwood would offer a reasonably-priced torch-mounted pot control for those awkward position patches where the foot control is difficult to use....
    Not bad (Posted on 6/27/2011)
    Review by George
Got my "Eastwood Tig 200" a couple of weeks ago. Everything when I opened the box was intact and well pakaged. I assembled the Tig 200 on my welding cart. I'm not a pro tig welder but have done my fair share of mig and oxy welding. The welder works well however be aware that the foot pedal and plugs are a little cheezy. I had to repair the foot pedal after using the welder for just 10 min. There is a small mechanical red button (relay) inside the foot pedal that starts the flow of electricity to the tungsten when you step on the pedal. There is a tab screwed on to the arm that opperates the pot for the amperage. The tab on my foot pedal didn't touch the electrical flow shut off relay. That resulted in the tungsten having power going to it with my foot OFF the pedal...... DANGEROUS!!!!
However, after I repaired the foot pedal, it seemed to work fine.
I also had to re solder the footpedal conection plug. The wires had the potential to short out because the insulation was melted off from the fellas overheating the wire during soldering at the manufacturer. That was another bummer!
After my two repairs, I believe my "Tig 200" welder is ready to work..., safely.
Over all, I'm happy with my purchase, I just wish the Chinese manufacturer of the "Tig 200" had better quality control.
Awesome unit for the $ (Posted on 4/5/2011)

I have been TIG welding for many years using now dated but high quality equipment. This welder has amazing capabilities for its size and certainly for its price. The inverter technology has come a long way allowing this size machine to have both DC & AC welding capacity without high frequency. I have welded steel, stainless and aluminum with great success and smooth arc initiation.
New or old to TIG welding, you will be happy with your purchase.
Happy with my Tig 200 (Posted on 3/27/2011)
    Review by Jim
I received my Tig 200 in a timely fashion. Everything works. I am new to any kind of welding and was able to make some nice beads on 4130. Also did not have any trouble burning through it either! Looks like my challenge at this point will be to identify proper settings. At this point in time the majority of my welding will be 4130 tubing and flat stock. I'm happy so far with the welder but have only played with it for an hour and a half. I'll write another review after more experience.
    Very Pleased (Posted on 3/25/2011)

I 'm greatly impressed with how well this does sheet metal. Everyone else seems to be busy trying to repair boilers or armor plate or something and I've been looking for something to butt-weld 20 gauge patch panels with better control. I used it for the first time welding up some corners on a little sheet metal box and was very pleased with the results.
The instructions tell you what you need to know to operate the machine and says right out that this takes practice and possibly the hands on instruction from someone who is experienced in this type of welding. An owner's manual is not usually a comprehensive guide to all aspects of a device's use, merely how to operate it.
While this was my first time trying at TIG, I have been messing around with gas and MIG for years and found this machine to be just what I've been looking for in control. Since this is just for my hobby I was very pleased with the price and felt more confident in Eastwood as the supplier that will continue to support this welder.
The zip ties did hit me funny at first as well but that just means I could eliminate that part easier if I decide to use the pedal exclusively or replace it if the switch goes bad without having to get a whole new torch head.
All in all a very happy customer!
